Woodlyn Baptist Church is accepting resumes for the position of f/t assistant pastor with a view to becoming our lead pastor upon the retirement of our present pastor. Qualifications include compliance with 1 Tim 3:2-7; Titus 1:5-9; and 1 Peter 5:1-4. He will hold to the evangelical and reformation faith and give whole-hearted support to our church’s Statement of Faith

• Applicant should be committed to preaching expository sermons by exegeting the Scriptures and allowing the Spirit to guide in relevant application to the congregation.
• Ministry requirements include demonstrated leadership skills exercised with a compassionate heart to shepherd the flock.
• A candidate should be committed to the work of building up and strengthening the church in view of the biblical marks of the church.
  • He will need to exercise vigilance regarding the flock by the on-going work of equipping the saints in the face of increasing opposition to and misunderstanding of the Christian faith in our society, so that God’s people are ready and able to respond with Christ-like love for all their neighbors.
• He will be committed to encourage evangelism locally and globally along with his personal example.
• He must possess competent verbal and writing skills.
• We are looking for a pastor who is passionate about reading, studying, and preaching the word of God; a shepherd who personally cares for the flock and oversees his fellow leaders in caring for them.
  • He should be theologically trained with a Masters of Divinity or higher.
• He will exhibit good interpersonal skills and will thoroughly enjoy the fellowship of his brothers and sisters and the work of cultivating and participating in edifying relationships within the congregation.
• Key responsibilities will include preaching, pastoral oversight, involvement in planning, discipleship responsibilities (which includes biblical counseling).
  • His initial responsibilities will focus on building up the families in our church, outreach to the lost and unchurched in our community (with a special view toward families with children), and pastoral visitation of church members as needed.

Our church was founded in 1948 as a result of a home Bible study almost directly across the street. We are strategically located on a main thoroughfare in Delaware County near major highways, an international airport, a large city, Philadelphia, and next to the small city of Chester. There are several nearby colleges and universities.

A spacious parsonage is provided for our pastor.
