Assistant Pastor Discipleship-Congregational Care

The Assistant Pastor is responsible to provide congregational care and support the discipleship ministry of St. Andrew’s with particular emphasis in men’s ministries. In addition, serves as a pastor to the congregation and community at large, using high-touch, relational ministry principles. The Lead Pastor/Head of Staff may assign additional duties and responsibilities on a temporary or regular basis, such as participation in worship services, teaching, pastoral care, missions, and any other ministerial responsibilities as called upon. The Assistant Pastor will be ordained (or ordainable) in ECO, maintain a lifestyle and ministry consistent with Scripture, the mission, values and bylaws of St. Andrew’s and the essential tenets of ECO.

Responsibilities:

Discipleship

• Collaborate with Associate Pastor-Adult Discipleship to strategize and lead high-quality and relevant teaching, fellowship, and spiritual formation opportunities for the men and couples of St. Andrew’s.
• Recruit, train, support, lead, and nurture lay leadership and volunteers in Adult Discipleship.
• Speak and teach regularly in Men’s and Adult Ministries.

Shepherding

• Lead Deacons and Congregational Care ministries.
• Serve as a pastor to the congregation and community, performing both formal and informal pastoral duties.
• Engage in relational ministry through congregational care and intentional pastoral meetings within the community.
• Provide leadership and oversight to Pastor of Visitation and Care Coordinator to effectively care for our multi-generational congregation.
• Pray for, encourage, support and serve all aspects of the life and ministry of St. Andrew’s.

Worship

• Lead aspects of worship services, preach and teach as assigned.

Experience and Education

• 3-5 years of pastoral ministry in a medium-sized (or larger) church preferred.

• Possesses a solid, thorough Biblical knowledge and understanding, undergirded by a deep love and desire to share God’s word; devoted to prayer.
• Shines with engaging interpersonal skills: warm, genuine, approachable, loving, caring, sense of humor, inclusive.
• Cultivator and equipper of leaders—not simply a “doer” but a “builder.”
• Motivated and energized by teamwork and collaboration; able to effectively organize and delegate.
