Why Students Choose Sattler College

Sattler College’s mission is to provide an education that instructs the mind, discipleship that shapes the soul, and inspiration that inflames the heart. The modern higher education system rarely tends to the yearnings of the soul, nor inspires the passions of the heart. It fails to educate young people holistically for a life well lived. It is often hostile to faith, too expensive and academically weak. We need nothing short of a revolution. Sattler College was founded upon the biblical vision of Christian discipleship that addresses the mind, soul and heart. Our goal is to enable graduates to heartily say, “For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power, love and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Sattler College started offerings in Fall 2018 and was accredited Fall 2021. Sattler is a four-year Christian college granting bachelor’s degrees in the following majors: biblical studies, business, computer science, history, and human biology. Students choose Sattler because they want to build their faith, while also taking the next steps toward fulfilling God’s plan for their careers. Sattler students are exceptional. Last fall’s incoming students’ SAT scores averaged in the 93rd percentile. Many arrive at the college with significant cross-cultural experiences. Many have been leaders in their home communities and are eager to participate in thoughtful service in an urban environment.

Description

The Program in Biology at Sattler College invites applicants for a full time position, at the assistant professor level or above, beginning August 1st, 2023. The ideal candidate will be skilled in undergraduate biology pedagogy, able to lead students in novel research, and eager to participate in faith-based faculty mentorship. Sattler College seeks to equip all students with a basic understanding of human biology, so the candidate should be able to communicate fundamental scientific concepts to a diverse undergraduate audience in the Core Curriculum’s introductory biology course. The candidate should also be able to teach courses for human biology majors, such as microbiology, genetics, anatomy and physiology, and faith-based bioethics. Ideally, the candidate would also advise undergraduate students on independent and laboratory research. All college graduates are required to complete a senior research capstone project. Intensive faculty mentorship during capstone projects aims to equip students for holistic lives that integrate quality careers with commitments to faith and service.

Applications should include a CV (Submit via the resume section on the form), cover letter, teaching statement, research statement, and contact information for three professional references.
