General Description:

This is an ideal position for a spiritually mature person with a deep passion for the Lord that is excited about sharing that love and spiritual growth with others. This self-motivated individual reports to the Senior Pastor and participates in weekly planning and professional development meetings with the senior pastor. This person will have a primary focus on youth, young adults and families but will also be involved in pastoral ministry to the entire congregation. The candidate will build relationships with members of the church and provide mentoring connections with young people. The ideal candidate must be energetic, enthusiastic, personable, and approachable. Responsibilities of this person will include, but are not limited to:

Assist in the pastoral ministry of the church
• Opportunities to preach during the year
• Opportunities to assist in a funerals or weddings
• Opportunities to make visits in hospitals, nursing homes, and with shut ins
• Work with Deacons and Lay Assistants in worship
• Assist in serving communion in worship and at homes
• Opportunities to attend board meetings
• Coordinates with the Senior Pastor a strategy for the sharing of pastoral care needs
• Intentionally builds relationships with congregation. Develop and oversee youth and family ministry programing
• Develop multiple level programs for children and youth such as Baptist Youth Fellowship and Elementary School programs.
• Recruit and organize volunteers
• Establish and build relationships in local schools as part of outreach efforts (senior projects, music programs, nursery care)
• Administer youth budget
• Offers Bible Study classes with specific focuses such as discipleship for young adults and parenting
• Establish events that are inter-generational and will bring families together
• Include children from our extended church families and Vacation Bible School attendees.

Assist in Sunday School programing
• Serve as a consultant to the Board of Christian Education
• Work with Children’s Church and Nursery Program leaders
• Coordinate the integration of children and youth in morning worship

Requirements:
• Personally demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit.
• Must be a person of Prayer.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
• Able to demonstrate a commitment to Christian education and pastoral care for all ages.
• Master’s of Divinity preferred.
• American Baptist Churches USA recognized ordination preferred
• Experience preferred but not required.

Hours & Benefits:
• The Associate Pastor will be classified as a full-time, exempt employee.
• Benefits offered will be consistent with the current policy for insurance, paid time off (PTO) and holidays.
• This is a full-time position.
