Bethel Community Church (Washougal, WA) – Associate Pastor
The Candidate
We are praying for a godly man who is committed to helping people become faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Has a heart to minister and shepherd alongside the senior pastor and elders to the local church body. The Associate Pastor must meet the qualifications of a teaching elder and hold to the final authority of God’s word. He will help shepherd God’s flock through teaching, occasional preaching, discipleship, visitation and pastoral care.
The Qualifications
- Clear, personal testimony of salvation followed by baptism by immersion.
- Be devoted to helping people become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
- Fulfill the biblical requirements for an overseer or shepherd from 1 Timothy 3: 1 -7; Titus 1: 5 – 9 and 1 Peter 5: 1-4.
- Be in complete agreement with the Statement of Faith of Bethel Community Church.
- Loves God deeply. Committed to daily bible reading and prayer. Demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Christ.
- Have the ability and conviction to accurately handle and preach the entire counsel of God’s word without apology or compromise.
- Willing to work alongside the senior pastor and the board of elders.
- Committed to equip the body to grow and mature in Christ. (Ephesians 4: 11 – 16).
- Models loving leadership as a husband and father, if married with children.
- Willing to demonstrate a Christ-like attitude through all interactions with the church body, church staff and elders.
- Minimum of a Bachelors of Bible and Theology.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Faithfully teach the truth of scripture using God’s word with particular emphasis on teaching that
- Committed to the expositional preaching of the Scriptures through an exegetical and systematic approach intent on teaching the whole counsel of Scripture. (2 Timothy 4: 1 – 3; Acts 20: 27; & 2 Timothy 2: 15).
- Equip others to lead and be involved in teaching Scriptural truth for Sunday services and Adult Sunday School classes, as well as outside of Sunday morning worship services.
- Develop a strategy to help people to think biblically and grow in a biblically based world view (Colossians 2: 6 – 8; 2 Corinthians 10: 3 – 5; Romans 12: 1 – 2).
- Assist the Senior Pastor in teaching responsibilities.
Shepherding Responsibilities: (1 Peter 5: 1 – 3)
- Model what it means to be a faithful follower of Jesus.
- Willing to Disciple others including counseling as needed. (Matthew 28: 19 – 20; 2 Timothy 2: 2).
- Demonstrate a sincere love and concern for the flock through personal ministry of pastoral care.
- Spend time on a daily basis praying for the needs of the church body.
- Administer, along with elders and staff, the ordinances of baptism and communion.
- Willing to oversee various kinds of worship services, including Sunday morning, special services, funerals, and weddings.
- Initiate outreach to the community that moves the demonstration of the gospel beyond the walls of the physical facility.
The Compensation
$60,000 – $80,000, Depending on experience and education.
