About Valley Brook

Valley Brook was started in the fall of 2000 to reach people who didn’t know Christ. Since then, we have reached people from all over the greater Hartford area. Valley Brook is known as a church that focuses on following Christ, offers contemporary worship, ministers to children and adults, and serves the community, both near and far. Valley Brook’s governance is congregational and overseen by an Elder Board and run by the staff. Making disciples and moving people from new believers to being fully devoted followers of Jesus is one of the founding principles of Valley Brook.

About the Community

Valley Brook is located in the Farmington Valley region of Connecticut in the town of Granby which is about 20 miles outside of the city of Hartford. This suburban area attracts individuals and families that are upwardly mobile but want to live in a small town. Families with children move to this area because of the access to quality education in both public and private schools (secular or Christian). And the area offers access to major metropolitan areas, entertainment, and outdoor activities.

Overview

The Discipleship Pastor/Director will oversee the discipleship pathways that we use for making disciples. This includes providing leadership for all adult discipleship ministries including all of our groups and classes. The Discipleship Pastor/Director will also assist the Lead Pastor in other areas.

Qualifications:

• Mature Christian faith.
• Two to five years of experience in leading a ministry.
• BA in a Christian ministry degree is required, MA in ministry desired but not required.
• Candidate who is ordained or ordainable.

Discipleship Ministry

• Maintain, create, and oversee discipleship pathways that incorporates the complete process from a first-time believer to a mature believer.
• Provide leadership to the overall adult discipleship ministry, including Life Groups, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry and Young Adult Ministry.
• Recruit, support and oversee the ministry leaders for Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry and Young Adult Ministry.
• Recruit, train and supervise Life Group Leaders.
• Lead and oversee the Growth Track discipleship process.
• Work with the Lead Pastor and others to plan Life Group material for sermon series.
• Provide leadership to the Outreach and Evangelism Ministry.
• As needed: preaches, performs baptisms, and officiates weddings and funerals.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Other

• Serve on the Senior Leadership Team with all FT staff.
• Serve and lead in other areas of Valley Brook as able.
