First Church in Windsor is a member of the United Church of Christ that embodies an open and affirming covenant. Established circa 1630, First Church in Windsor seeks to live by Faith, be known by Love and be a voice of Hope through transformational worship, fellowship, and social justice. We seek a Pastoral Associate/Associate Pastor to enhance and grow our community with creativity and spiritual vision to bring our mission to fruition. Our ideal candidate is spiritually mature with a deep passion for the Lord and is excited about sharing that love and spiritual growth with others. This role has a primary focus on youth, young adults and families but will also be involved in pastoral ministry to the entire congregation. The candidate will be responsible for cultivating relationships with members of the church and provide mentoring connections with young people.

Core Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

• Create safe spaces for young people to explore their faith in the church and community.
• Teach the Gospel through faith formation.
• Implement and organize opportunities for youth and young adults such as confirmation classes, Silver Lake enrollment, youth service trips and other related activities.
• Design and direct the Silver Lake Sunday and Youth Sunday worship services.
• Encourage and support activities for mission and outreach ministries.
• Develop community engagement by representing the church in the wider Windsor community, by being visibly active at community events.
• Respect the traditions of the church while introducing changes, new approaches and programs that support the mission of the church.
• Lead worship services approximately every 4-6 weeks (or when asked) and fill in for the Senior Pastor when she is away.
• Participate in Sunday, holiday, and community worship services.
• Collaborate with the Senior Pastor, Deacons and other staff.
• Support Senior Pastor in weddings, funerals, visitations and other pastoral care needs.
• Attend staff meetings; attend meetings of boards and committees as needed or directed.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors in Religious/Theological studies or Human/Social Services Field.
• 3+ years of youth development and/or youth leadership.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to Christian education and pastoral care for all ages.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters of Divinity.
• Ordained by the United Church of Christ, will consider ecumenical partners.
• Previous experience working with young people in a Christian setting preferred.
