Community Church (Enterprise, OR) Bi-Vocational Pastor

The Big Picture

Community Church (thebigbrownchurch.org) is prayerfully seeking an energetic, bi-vocational pastor to preach the Word of God and shepherd the people.

The Church

You’ll pastor a group of 36 engaged members, with another 21 who attend occasionally, with average worship attendance in 2021 of 26, and trending upward in 2022. You’ll notice we have lively weekly Bible Studies with 12-18 attending. Sunday school for children is during worship service. We have opened our church for social events once again, and we are enjoying coffee hour after worship service.

We recently raised $12,000 to install our new Carillon which is delighting the neighborhood with the joyful sounds of church bells and hymns. We frequently offer our iconic three-story building to the community. Current local ministries include food bank, senior meals, the Noisy Offering, and supporting local families in times of need. We have also partnered with Building Healthy Families, a local nonprofit, to provide support to the students at the alternative high school, made lunch for 70 volunteers for a new city park, and sponsored five local kids to participate in The Young Americans musical outreach tour when they came through town in 2019.

The Community

Enterprise, Oregon is in Wallowa County, pop 7,400, with 5.5% growth. Located at the base of the Wallowa Mountains, one of the “Seven Wonders of Oregon,” you’ll enjoy stunning natural beauty and boundless outdoor recreation. The county offers a nationally recognized hospital, award-winning schools, thriving small businesses, charming Main Streets, the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, and a group to serve every interest, all in a tight knit community that loves a good potluck.

The Candidate

If you would like the rewards and challenges of serving a rural congregation in a remote and stunning corner of Oregon, we have an opportunity for a half-time pastor to continue momentum built over the past five years. Although, like everyone, we were disrupted by Covid, we have regained our footing, and experiencing positive momentum once again. Our engaged members are committed to spiritual growth and are active in our community. We are looking for a minister who can bring a passion for growing spiritually in the Congregational tradition and inspire others to do the same.

The Compensation

$2,000 base salary per month, plus parsonage or housing allowance; additional benefits negotiable.
