The Details

Flat Creek Baptist Church (FCBC) is a rural Southern Baptist Church in Pettis County, MO, located near Missouri’s State Fair City, Sedalia.  Our physical facility is surrounded by many small farms, and by and large our congregation is composed of persons currently involved in farming or those having grown up in the farming community. 

• FCBC subscribes to the Baptist Faith and Message and supports the local Harmony Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention (including at the state, national, and international levels).
• FCBC is seeking a bi-vocational pastor; one whose sole livelihood is not dependent upon the salary from the church. 
  • This position is not a full-time pastorate position.
• FCBC does not have a full-time office space, nor does it expect a pastor to maintain regular office hours at the church facility.
• FCBC currently has the following services: Sunday morning Sunday School classes for differing age groups, Sunday morning Worship Service, Sunday night Church Training, and Wednesday night Prayer Meeting and Bible Study. 
  • However, the prayerful desire and goal of FCBC is to expand the services and programs offered to better meet the needs of our attendees.

Regarding pastoral duties, our Church Constitution and Policies states:  It shall be the duty of the Pastor to be responsible for ministering the word of God to the Church; to conduct the public services of worship; and to have in charge the welfare and oversight of the congregation; to oversee the spiritual orientation of new members; to administer the New Testament ordinances (Baptism and Lord’s Supper); to act as moderator when present at a meeting for the transaction of business, and to perform various other duties incumbent of his office, such as performing wedding services and funerals as needed and requested. His specific duties shall be to give special attention to the spiritual needs of the members, to conduct a program of personal contact with members as well as prospects, and to have supervision of the church staff unless otherwise specifically provided. Such supervision shall be in the hands of the Pastor within the limits of the budget, in counsel with the Deacons, and upon approval of the church. The Pastor shall edit the Church Bulletin and be an ex-officio member of all boards and committees.
