Bi-vocational Pastor
Other Details
St. Peter’s Christian Community Church (New Albin, IA) – Bi-vocational Pastor
The Big Picture
St. Peter’s Christian Community Church is a non-denominational church seeking a bi-vocational Pastor who will preach the Word of God, shepherd the congregation, and equip the church for works of service.
The Church
St. Peter’s was founded over 130 years ago by German speaking immigrants. The church has its roots in Evangelical and Reformed tradition. St. Peters has been a nondenominational ministry for the past fifteen years. It bases its theology in the Holy Bible, not in any denominational tradition. The present congregation is composed of people from 5 different denominations. We all agree Christ is the risen Savior, we believe in the sacrament of Holy communion and the Holy Spirit. We differ on baptism with water or dedication, but we have been able to work this difference out. The church building is debt free with a kitchen renovation and an addition in 2004. This is also fully paid for. The church has a well maintained 3 bedroom parsonage next door to the church which is currently rented out but can be made available to a pastor and family if needed.
The Qualifications
St. Peter’s church is seeking applicants looking for a part-time or bi-vocational position since at present the church budget is not robust enough to support a pastor and family full time. Perhaps this can change with time and with the right person leading us to growth. We need a minister who can provide a good message and be a good teacher. Someone who is willing to visit the shut-ins and distribute the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis to them. Foster growth in the congregation and someone to recognize a need and know when and how to provide the help.
We pray to be a faithful, generous, God seeking, forgiving, patient congregation in whom the light of God shines. We are hoping to find someone to lead us in that direction.
