Advent Presbyterian Church is looking for a gifted and passionate individual to create a Children’s Ministry for our church. The Children’s Ministry Director will work closely with the pastor and elders of the church to minister to the children and families in the church and to support the church’s mission to make disciples who worship God, grow spiritually, and share the Gospel.  A successful Children’s Ministry Director, should love children and desire to see them grow in a life-giving, transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, and be able to create and manage programs to make that happen.

Responsibilities

• Develop a Children’s Ministry starting with a nursery (ages 2-4) and a Sunday morning program for elementary-age children (5-11 years of age).
• Recruit, train and support Children’s Ministry volunteers.
• Oversee the Children’s Ministry budget.
• Maintain communication with the pastor, Session, and congregation regarding Advent’s Children’s Ministry.

Schedule & Compensation

• 8 hours/week (2 hours Sunday morning + 6 hours during the week) with the potential for additional hours as the program grows.
• $20-25/hour

Qualifications

• A vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to follow him as Lord and Savior and a Christian lifestyle consistent with Biblical values.
• A passion and vision for the spiritual growth and nurture of children.
• Training and experience in Christian education, child development and mentoring parents. Formal education in Christian Education/Children’s Ministry is a plus.
• The ability to relate well to adults and children.
• Skills using current technology and communication tools including social media.
• Agreement with theological and biblical framework of Reformed theology, Presbyterian polity, and the values of the Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians (ECO) (https://eco-pres.org/constitution/ ).
• Willingness become a member of Advent Presbyterian Church unless waived by Session.

Accountability

• The Children’s Ministry Director will report to the pastor and meet with the pastor regularly to establish and monitor ministry goals.
• The pastor will conduct an annual performance review of the Children’s Ministry Director.
