FPC is a historic congregation “growing younger.” The Director for Emerging Adults & University Ministries will help lead, coordinate, and oversee ministries in and through First Presbyterian Church connecting emerging young adults (university age) to Christ, the Church, and God’s work in the City. Leadership responsibilities include: ministry program oversight and development; strategic outreach; and, facilitating the connection for university age emerging adults with our FPC family.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and his church demonstrated in a deep understanding of the gospel, personal holiness, fruitfulness, and humility
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field and a firm understanding of the Bible and Reformed theology
- Work Experience: Experience in leading people in a university ministry, either as a volunteer or on staff, preferably in a church setting.
- Hunger to reach university age emerging adults with vision and skill to empower and equip others to faithfully and fruitfully participate in the ministry
- Strong communication, relational, and organizational skills
- Love for students with a commitment for their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to sacrificially help them connect with the Church, and a vision to reach students that do not know Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior
- A self-starter with gifts in leadership, teaching, disciple-making, and evangelism
- A desire and proven ability to work collaboratively on a team
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Model an authentic Christian lifestyle for University age students, volunteers, and the church
- Develop, lead, and oversee outreach and discipleship ministries for university age men and women through Sunday morning classes, worship services, regular gatherings, and leadership development training
- Develop and maintain significant relationships with university students who are members and/or sons/daughters of members of FPCSA through: College Care Packages, Texas Tours/Campus visits and regular contact via mail, phone, texting, e-mail, and Facebook/social media connections
- Equip university leaders and volunteers for ministry through leadership development trainings while recruiting volunteers and supporters from the general FPC family
- Strategically partner with Youth Ministry staff to enhance shepherding of students and integrating leadership development
- Act as a liaison between FPC and Christian organizations serving on local college campuses
- Actively invite students to weekly worship, grow and service events at FPCSA.
- Report to and empower the members of the Young Adult Communities Committee, equipping them to become partners in various ministry areas to students and young adults
- Plan and coordinate two annual mission trip opportunities for students
- Organize intentional fellowship opportunities with strategic connections to young adults and the church
- Assist in other ministry responsibilities such as worship leadership as directed by supervisor
- Attend staff meetings and committee meetings
- Attend monthly church officers’ dinner when available
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Reports to: This position reports directly to the FPC Associate Pastor to Young Adults.

Staff Classification: exempt/ministerial exemption
Compensation: $50,000 – $55,000 per year
Auto allowance $3,600
