Hours Per Week: 5
South Congregational Church
Peabody, MA, USA
Job Type: Music or Worship Director
Other Details

We are looking for someone who can lead worship (preferably on piano or keyboard) and direct our praise team that consists of musicians playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, violin occasionally, and several voices. We strive to do a blended worship service of traditional hymns and contemporary – as we have both older and younger congregants – though we have tended more toward contemporary. This position would involve leading a mid week and/or earlier Sunday morning  rehearsal, and then leading actual worship (Sunday mornings from 10:00-11:15 a.m.).

There is great comradery on the praise team – they enjoy playing together and they thrive under leadership. This position also requires musical leadership of special holiday services throughout the year. If schedule permits, there is also opportunity to play for funerals and weddings with honorarium compensation.

We have enjoyed great stability and longevity in this position which we attribute to enthusiastic support from the pastor, our Music Ministry (Committee), the praise team, as well as a congregation that truly appreciates the musical component of our worship .

We are an evangelical congregational church (affiliated with the 4-C’s) that is Christ centered and committed to Biblical teaching and preaching. As such, we need our Director of Music to be one who is  committed to Christ, desires to exalt Christ through music, and desires to draw our people into worship of Christ through music.

We are also an ethnically/nationally diverse congregation which we feel very much enriches our congregational life and sense of Christian community.

We offer a competitive salary for this position with time off for vacation. If you are interested, we would love to hear from you.
