Grand Canyon Community Church is prayerfully seeking a pastor to shepherd our unique
and vibrant congregation at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park and to serve in
partnership with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP) as its Resident
Minister.

About Us
The Grand Canyon Community Church is a year-round ministry at the Grand Canyon. We
serve a diverse community of park employees, residents, seasonal workers, and visitors
from around the world. We are a welcoming, accepting, interdenominational fellowship
committed to sharing Christ’s love through worship, service, and community life in this
extraordinary setting. Our ministry is enriched through collaboration with ACMNP, which
equips seasonal ministry team members who serve alongside our church. Introductory

The Opportunity
We are seeking a pastor who:

  • Is grounded in the truth of Scripture and passionate about proclaiming the Gospel.
  • Possesses the temperament, interpersonal skills, and interest in serving and leading
    in an interdenominational context, without bias towards a specific denomination.
  • Demonstrates a shepherd’s heart with strong pastoral care and leadership skills.
  • Can adapt to a dynamic community with both long-term residents and short-term
    visitors.
  • Embraces the unique mission field of the Grand Canyon, with its blend of local
    ministry and global reach.
  • Has a vision for and willingness to foster the relationships needed to work
    effectively, wisely, and collaboratively with NPS, concessionaires, and local
    government.
  • Can provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to ACMNP seasonal Ministry Team
    Members as the Resident Minister.
  • Has the capacity to assist with immediate crisis intervention and mental health
    support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly worship services and typical pastoral duties.
  • Model leadership for strong community outreach, including organized ministry for
    children and teens.
  • Provide pastoral care, counseling, and visitation within the Grand Canyon
    community. This includes opportunities to serve in a chaplain-like role in
    collaboration with NPS and other groups serving within the park. Pastoral care
    includes spiritual guidance in all matters pertaining to the congregation’s or an
    individual’s growth.
  • Interact with NPS, park concessionaires, and other groups serving Grand Canyon
    NP to build bridges and foster collaborative efforts, pursuing opportunities to share
    God’s love, grace, and acceptance within the park community.
  • Instigate and lead Bible studies and affinity groups in service to the community and
    mission of the church.
  • Mentor, encourage, and support ACMNP seasonal ministry team members.
  • Partner with ACMNP leadership to coordinate ministry programs in the park.
  • Engage with residents, staff, and visitors in a spirit of hospitality and witness.
  • Work alongside church leadership to guide vision, outreach, and discipleship.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess:

  • A proven record of accomplishment as a pastor with a theological education and a
    profound sense of calling
  • Spiritual and personal integrity and maturity
  • Understanding and practicing of confidentiality
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and human relation skills
  • Innovative problem-solving and effective decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated capital and fiscal management experience
  • Healthy sense of humor
  • Ability to empathize with the concerns of the congregation
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution and pastoral care
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • At least five years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Education: Seminary/Theological Degree
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of successful pastoral experience
License or Certificate: Ordination by a recognized denomination

Benefits

  • Salary: $1,800 monthly
  • Housing Provided @ Value of $1,800 monthly
  • Utilities Provided @ Value of $350 monthly
  • Health Insurance Allowance (Pastor Only): $500 monthly
  • Vacation: Two Weeks Annually
  • Holidays: 11 Federal Holidays + One Personal Choice (Birthday, Anniversary, etc.) = 12 Total Holidays
