Ebenezer Mennonite Church (ebenezermennonite.org), an evangelical and independent church, is seeking a Senior Pastor who will encourage us to live out our vision to REACH out to the lost with the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, to TEACH those people how to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to develop a CARING concern that extends beyond the church body into the communities in which they live and work
Ebenezer enjoys a lasting heritage of faithfulness to the exposition of the divinely inspired scriptures. Built in 1840, the predecessor of Ebenezer Mennonite Church was simply known as the “Swiss Church.” In 1846, the “Swiss Mennonite Church” was constructed. The Ebenezer Mennonite Church replaced that structure in 1869 on our present location. The church has been enlarged and updated in 1883, 1928, 1964, 1979, and 2001. We are an independent Mennonite church with no conference affiliation. We seek to Reach, Teach, & Care. We encourage participation in the church as each person is able and to express the love of God to our neighbors, community, and the world. Ebenezer Mennonite Church emphasizes strong Biblical teaching with practical application. Our purpose as a church is to encourage a vibrant life of worship and to build solid Christian character through Christ-centered Bible teaching. Church membership is around 550 while the attendance was on average 350 (pre-pandemic).
The senior pastor provides leadership and supervision for all areas of the church. He leads the congregation of EMC towards its mission, REACH, TEACH, and CARE. The Senior Pastor will provide teaching/preaching that is apologetic and expositional, true to the word of God and applicable for the day in which we live. The Senior Pastor will perform all the ordinances of EMC. The Senior Pastor relates to and connects to multiple generations and a diverse congregation within a rural environment. The Pastor represents the congregation in our communities to learn new ways in which the church can support, minister to, and engage with the communities we serve. The Pastor is missional in local outreach and through EMC’s global missions program. The Pastor and his staff will provide pastoral care in areas of counseling, visitation, and discipleship. The Pastor will recognize the importance of spiritual health and one’s personal relationship with Jesus Christ, setting aside time for prayer, meditation, reflection, Bible study, rest, and family time. The Pastor extends grace to others and leads the people by example by being relational, authentic, transparent, and humble, exemplifying the fruits of the spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. The church has a support team consisting of Pastor of Student Ministries, Director of Children and Family Ministries, Pastor Emeritus, Church Administrator, and Church Secretary who report to the Senior Pastor for which he will coordinate yearly performance evaluations.
We require a man that meets the qualifications in I Timothy and Titus with a degree in Biblical studies or Christian ministries. A Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent or working toward completion of this degree is preferred. Significant experience as a senior pastor will be considered in lieu of a Master of Divinity degree. The Senior Pastor must strictly adhere to the Ebenezer Mennonite Church Statement of Faith.
