The Lead Pastor will provide leadership in casting, shaping, clarifying, and executing the mission & vision of MGC. He will also take the primary role of shepherding God’s people through preaching, teaching, equipping, leadership, and pastoral care, as well as providing oversight of all MGC ministries.

Overarching Purpose of Position
● Shepherd God’s people through preaching, teaching, leadership, and pastoral care
● Provide oversight over all MGC staff in collaboration with board of elders (BoE)

Overview of Responsibilities
● Preaching | Teaching
○ Serve as the lead/primary pastoral voice in the preaching ministry
○ Develop and oversee the preaching series calendar
● Leadership | Equipping
○ Lead in casting and sharpening strategic vision and providing oversight
○ Identify and train up leaders: elders, deacons, staff, and ministry team leads
○ Collaborate with BoE to develop and implement curriculum for discipleship
● Shepherding
○ Engage actively in discipleship of ministry leaders, volunteers, and members
○ Collaborate with BoE to provide pastoral care through counseling, premarital
counseling, and visitations

● Administration
○ Collaborate with BoE, Diaconate, Staff, and Ministry teams in yearly planning
○ Collaborate with BoE and MGC Treasury in developing annual budgets

Qualifications & Expectations
● Personal
○ A faithful follower of Jesus with well-established patterns of spiritual disciplines
○ Spiritual maturity in accordance with the biblical qualifications for an elder as
outlined in Scriptures (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
○ Passion for studying, teaching, and preaching God’s Word in order to build up
the church

○ Commitment to the Bible as the whole counsel of God
○ Commitment to disciple-making locally and globally through evangelism and the
Great Commission
○ Desire to see believers grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ
○ Faithful stewardship of time and resources
○ Diligence in completing tasks
○ Humility and willingness to give and receive feedback
○ Ability to connect with people and promote a caring culture
○ An honest view of their own identity, strengths, and weaknesses
● Professional Experience
○ Essentials
■ A distinct calling and spiritual gifting for pastoral ministry in the local
church
■ Full agreement with MGC Statement of Faith, values, and distinctives
■ Passion for and giftedness in Gospel-centered expository preaching
■ Commitment to working with a plurality of elders and a team-based
ministry model
■ 5 or more years of experience in full-time pastoral ministry
■ A proven record of cultivating a culture of discipleship
■ Ability to identify challenges and offer solutions
○ Preferred
■ M.Div. or equivalent from an accredited institution
■ Experience in:
● Managing ministry teams in the local church
● Leading a largely professional, multicultural church in a fast-paced
culture
● Developing and launching church plants
● Building relationships with other local churches and ministries
