About the Next Gen Pastor:

The Next Gen/Teaching Pastor oversees and provides leadership to our kids and student ministries, will be the primary leader of our college and young adults (CYA), serve on our leadership team and have a regular teaching presence.


The Next Gen Pastor Responsibilities Include: 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Help our church to grow in family discipleship, partnering with parents & Next Gen team.
  • Engage middle school, high school, & CYA to attend our main gathering Sunday AM alongside their parents or friends every Sunday.
  • Develop strategies that facilitate engagement in the church beyond Next Gen ministries.
  • Provide vision, leadership, and community for the NextGen Team (kids, students, CYA).
  • Occasionally assist in leading/teaching Sun AM or Weds PM Kids Club using the Orange Curriculum.
  • Represent Kids, Students, and CYA on the leadership team and in the church.
  • Recruit, develop, and empower adults to serve with kids, students, & CYA.
  • Communicate vision, mission, and strategies to volunteers, students, and parents.
  • Cast vision & develop a culture where parents are their kids’ primary spiritual leaders.
  • Lead the Next Gen team to establish a presence & build relationships with local school campuses, seeking to serve and do outreach where kids & students already gather.
  • Oversee groups, and worship environments for all kids, students, & CYA ministries.
  • Lead Kids, Students, CYA staff & volunteers to ensure smooth transitions between departments, and serve to reach and minister more effectively to the entire family.
  • Oversee Next Gen Ministries: Kids, Students, CYA Staff, Programming, & budgets.
  • Occasionally help to lead and organize Family Worship Weekends, Celebration Services where younger kids (Birth-5th grade) are invited into main worship service.
  • Provide pastoral care to Students, CYA, and their families as needed.

Other Responsibilities

  • Teach in the main service 12-15+ times per year.
  • Execute planning and team-building with the NextGen Team.
  • Oversee and lead Next Gen Team including Kids, Students, CYA.
  • Launch and lead a weekly CYA Worship Service on Sunday PM.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring: 

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of pastoral ministry experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Graduate degree from a university/seminary preferred.
  • Willingness to pursue Seminary. (if needed the church will assist)
  • Willingness to pursue Ordination with the EPC in the first 2 years.
  • Experience with and a commitment to utilizing Orange as a primary NextGen approach.
