Organist/Music Director

General Responsibility

To plan and provide organ and piano accompaniment for worship services and other church functions. Sunday worship services include a combination of traditional hymns and contemporary-style band music and worship songs.

Duties

• Select weekly worship music.
• Provide prelude, offertory and postlude music.
• Coordinate worship service themes with Pastor and/or Deacons.
• .Coordinate special music Sundays such as Christmas and Easter
  • Including choosing special music.
• Participate and lead worship band.
• Feature soloists, as needed/appropriate.
• Participate in Church Worship Committee.
• Coordinate with Worship committee and Deacons to find coverage if needed.
• Care of piano and organ- schedule and facilitate visit of tuner/technician, including watering the piano.
• Select and order music and supplies as needed.
• Accompany choir rehearsals and services.

Skills and Requirements

• Proficiency in playing the organ and piano.
• Knowledge of music theory and sight reading.
• Ability to play a variety of musical styles.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other musicians, church staff, and church committees.

Hours and Compensation

• Part-time position with the expectation of no more than 10 hours/week.
• Salary negotiable.
