The Big Picture

Hale Methodist Church (facebook.com/HaleUnitedMethodistChurch/) is a loving, rural, historic church seeking a full-time Pastor.

The Church

Hale Methodist is located about 75 miles north of Saginaw, MI in beautiful northern Michigan. While the community itself is small, it offers most basic services including grocery, pharmacy, gas stations, restaurants, a senior center, k-12 school, fire department, clinic, hardware, building center and more. The community is home to a large thrift shop called “Fish”, which is Christian based and run to provide funding for those in need. The township population is about 4000, and the church draws from the area which includes 60 lakes.

Our worship is blended. We have a praise band. Year-round attendance averages about 80, highest in late spring through early autumn. We have some wonderful ministries including a weekly Bible breakfast for grades 7-12, annual camp servicing 30-100 senior high students on the Rifle River, annual day camp for elementary ages, Bible studies, weekly men’s breakfast, violin lessons for elementary children, and Sunday School for all ages. Our membership is highly involved with Fish.

We are currently in process of transferring from the United Methodist Church to the Global Methodist Church, and the applicant must be willing to be credentialed (even ordained) within the Global Methodist, willing to go through any process to become qualified. Familiarity with and agreement with Methodist doctrine is a must.

The Candidate

This person must first of all love Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, willing to follow Him wherever He goes. We are looking for an applicant willing to work with all ages, as our congregation is primarily elderly but seeking to reach out to young families and individuals. Sermons must be biblically centric and solid preaching skills are a must.

As a rural congregation, we expect our Pastor to be highly community minded, willing to become involved at many levels of community involvement. Relationship building is a high priority both within the congregation and beyond the walls of the church.

Applicants must be open to the work of the Holy Spirit in a variety of ways, and while not a “charismatic” or “Pentecostal” congregation, we know here He will manifest Himself as He desires.

The Compensation

Pay is negotiable; a parsonage with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths located two blocks from the church is updated and available.
