First Presbyterian Church (Whitefish, MT) – Pastor

The Big Picture

First Presbyterian Church (fpcwhitefish.org) is seeking an experienced Bible based pastor to lead our diverse community in the breathtaking surroundings of our charming Montana mountain town, nestled at the entrance to Glacier National Park and embraced by the majestic allure of a nearby ski mountain.

The Church

First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish, Montana is a small downtown church composed of individuals who affirm that, in the power of the Spirit, the Church is faithful to the mission of Christ. Our congregation has a rich and diverse history and make-up; from native Montanans to recent transplants, to seasonal visitors and everything in between. We are biblically faithful and mission-minded. Our role in proclaiming the Gospel is who we are: giving and caring individuals who are active in the community. There is one traditional Sunday service at 10:00am. Children’s Sunday School is held during the sermon and led by our on-staff Youth Director and volunteers. Christian education classes, Bible Study groups, Presbyterian Women, and Men’s Breakfast groups meet throughout the week.

The Community

There is only one Whitefish. Our town is surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams with endless outdoor recreational. Our local population expands and contracts depending on the season. If you ask the visitors, there are officially two seasons in Whitefish, ski and golf; but if you ask the locals, there are many reasons we call it home. Whitefish is built on the personalities, generosity, and wisdom of its residents. The same spirit that motivated the men and women in 1921 to fashion our church building of brick and stone is alive and well in our community. When the community is asked to “step-up”, the people respond. Through private donations, facilities have been built that support education, the arts, health and welfare, and youth activities.

The Candidate

Delivering engaging sermons that resonate with the hearts and minds of our diverse community. Offering pastoral care, counseling, and support to congregants in times of need. Facilitating meaningful worship experiences that create a deep sense of connection and reverence. Collaborating with church leadership to plan and coordinate impactful community outreach initiatives. Fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and encourages spiritual growth for all.

Qualifications and Experience

To thrive in this role, we seek a pastor who embodies the following qualities:

  • Faithful and Compassionate: A steadfast commitment to Christian values and an unwavering dedication to serving others with love and compassion.
  • Inspirational Preacher: The ability to captivate and inspire congregants through compelling Bible based sermons that connect faith to their daily lives.
  • Pastoral Experience: Proven experience as a pastor, ideally within a multigenerational church setting, demonstrating a deep understanding of the challenges and joys that come with guiding a diverse congregation.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds and foster a sense of belonging within the church community.
  • Openness to Nature’s Majesty: A genuine appreciation for the beauty of the natural world and a desire to incorporate its wonders into Christ centered teachings.
