About Our Church:

Summit Baptist Church is a well established (founded in 1862) American Baptist Church set in rural Greene, RI (part of the town of Coventry), county
of Kent. The church sits prominently on a hill near the junction of Route’s 102 and 117. This beautiful brand new two story structure (2001) is complete with a 190 seat capacity sanctuary, church/Pastor’s office, crying room, fellowship hall, complete kitchen, music and Sunday School rooms, as well as, baptismal tank, organ, piano and state of the art audio and video system with projection on screen as needed and it is all paid for (no debt) !!

Over the years the church has created a family like atmosphere being very active in the community, in missions, and outreach from the Boy Scouts to the Samaritans Purse and a participant in United Mission Offerings. Part of the mission statement is “ We believe that each of us should contribute, based on ability, to the ministry for the spreading of the Gospel to the world and to aid in the relief the poor and the oppressed.”

 Who we Are Looking For:

Currently we are seeking a Pastor along the lines of what Peter said, “to care for the flock that God has entrusted to you and watch over it willingly, not grudgingly because you are eager to serve God and be an example to the flock.”1 Peter 5, portions of 2 and 3.

Some of the specifics we are looking for would be:

• To help us better understand and apply our faith as we follow the Word of God
  and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
• Offer education based on Theological knowledge and life experience.
• To express praise, thanksgiving, and devotion to God during worship services.
• Motivating and support others in discovering and using their spiritual gifts.
• Nurture fellowship and facilitate in both stability and natural church growth.
• Work and plan with the lay leaders to implement goals and objectives, having a vision of what is possible.
• Maintain an active prayer chain.

While the position is “considered full time,” bi – vocational ministry is accepted as long as it understood that church responsibilities can also be fulfilled as well.  Also experience is welcome, but not necessarily required. Recent graduates as well as those soon to graduate are encouraged to inquire.
