Though the candidate should be a generalist with regard to ministry responsibilities, the church does have a need for a person who can work in particular with its young couples and families.

Ministry Description
Evangelical Chinese American congregation in NYC is seeking a pastor to serve as the lead for its English-speaking department working in partnership with staff pastors & the Church board, in a multi-staff, multi-congregational, urban, ethnic church setting. The candidate should be a generalist in regard to ministry responsibilities with a focus on shepherding its young couples, families, and young adults, and should have a passion for evangelism to the Chinatown community and its nearby neighborhoods.
Ministry Requirements, Duties and Expectations
- Candidate must have a great love for the Lord; have integrity to do what is right and serve with humility in all that he does; and meet and exhibit the qualifications of an
overseer and elder as put forth in 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. - Duties shall include, but not be limited to, regular preaching and teaching of the Bible, planning for and leading weekly & special worship services in partnership with the
worship committee, administering baptisms and communion; providing spiritual guidance, & counseling; and doing general visitation (including at hospitals & in crisis
situations). - Candidate will be expected to provide spiritual oversight over and pastoral care for the English department ministries as well have visionary leadership to plan for and achieve
long-term ministry goals and growth. - Must possess strong preaching and teaching skills, have theological & ministry balance; be able and willing to shepherd and equip leaders and emerging leaders in their spiritual formation & growth and be an able administrator of all aspects of the English ministries, and understand the cultural implications of working in a bi-cultural environment.
- Candidate should have a ministry degree at the Master’s level, or its equivalent, from an accredited theological school, and at least 3 years of full-time ministry experience, preferably in an urban, Asian-American church context.
