Pastor of Family Ministry Job Description
Position Summary
The Pastor of Family Ministry provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight for ministries serving children, youth, and their families across all campuses. This role ensures a cohesive discipleship pathway from birth through college, equipping families and volunteers to raise up the next generation of Christ-followers.
This position will support a centralized approach to our muti-site church. A successful candidate for this position will demonstrate the experience and leadership to support and develop strategies for how we serve our kids, students, and parents. We need to build and plan our programs centrally and then execute locally to best serve our people.
Core Responsibilities
Multi-Site Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement a unified vision for Family Ministry across all locations.
- Collaborate with campus pastors and ministry directors to contextualize programming.
- Partner with Campus Pastors to provide coaching, training, and accountability for Family Ministry staff at each site.
- Build and execute programming to get all our parents engaged in the life of the church.
Age-Specific Ministry Oversight
- Oversee ministries for:
- Children’s Ministry (Kidstown): Kids (Birth–5th Grade)
- Student Ministry (Stu Min): Students (6th–12th Grade)
- Ensure smooth transitions between age groups with intentional discipleship milestones.
Curriculum & Programming
- Select and adapt curriculum that aligns with church theology and cultural relevance.
- Lead development of engaging weekend programing for Children’s & Student Ministry, midweek programs, and retreats, etc.
- Promote spiritual formation, biblical literacy, and leadership development.
- Lead the successful implementation of Summer Student Service Projects
- Ensure Summer programing is scheduled and consistently implemented across campuses
- Develop consistent implementation of Kidsweek (VBS) across all campuses
Volunteer Development
- Build new strategies to recruit, train, and empower volunteers across all campuses.
- Foster a culture of relational ministry and spiritual mentorship.
- Ensure safety protocols and background checks are consistently applied.
Family Engagement
- Equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes.
- Offer workshops, resources, and events that support family discipleship.
- Maintain regular communication with families across campuses.
- Help parents take their next step on their own faith journey.
Teaching & Communication
- Occasionally preach or teach in student services or main gatherings.
- Communicate with vision and updates to staff, volunteers, and congregations.
- Represent Family ministry in leadership meetings and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Ministry, Theology, Divinity, Education, or related field or equivalent experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, Theology, Education, or related field
- Prior experience leading Family Ministry at a multi-site church required
- 10+ years of experience in children and youth or family ministry, in a multi-site context.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for reaching and discipling the next generation.
- Alignment with the church’s mission, vision, and doctrinal beliefs.
