Job Overview
The Pastor/Director of Worship and Student Ministries helps Grace Covenant Church carry out its vision to transform lives through discipleship to Jesus by providing biblical and theological teaching, and administrative leadership to all aspects of Student Ministries (grades 7 through 12). In addition, the Worship and Student Ministries Pastor/Director will lead the entire Church Body deeper into relationship with God through ministries of worship, arts, and music.

Qualifications:

  • A disciple of Jesus Christ who has a growing relationship with the Lord and demonstrates a love and passion for serving Him.
  • College and/or equivalent training in relevant areas (Bible, theology, education, music.)
  • Spiritual gifts appropriate for this position, such as leadership, teaching, and administration.
  • A lifestyle consistent with the biblical qualifications for leaders (1 Tim.3:1-13: 2Tim.2; Titus1:5-9).
  • A heart to: (1) honor God above all, (2) to lead a church body in worship, (3) and lead students (grades 7-12) into deeper personal relationship with Him.
  • Have experience with ministry to students.
  • Have experience with worship and creative arts ministries.

Competencies:

  • A solid knowledge of Scripture, biblical theology, and a commitment to teaching God’s Word.
  • An ability to relate to students and effectively apply Scriptural principles that lead to life transformation.
  • A high commitment to team ministry.
  • Experience building teams, and discipling team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a continual learner in the field of adolescent faith development.
  • Demonstrate skill in the field of music (keyboard and/or guitar and vocal)
  • Understand basic music theory and composition (i.e., song transitions, instrumental transitions, etc.)
  • Knowledge of AV/Sound Board equipment (technical)
  • Ability to effectively apply Scriptural principles of biblical worship.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate discretion and confidentiality.
  • Be humble and teachable.

Responsibilities/Essential Job Duties:

  • General Responsibilities
    • Work with the Pastors and Leadership Team to support the vision, direction, and goals for both Student and Worship Ministries that are aligned with the overall vision of GCC.
    • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings.
    • Maintain regular participation in the worship and body life of GCC.
    • Create and manage Ministry funding plans for both Student and Worship Ministry teams.
    • Be (or become) a member in good standing of Grace Covenant Church (GCC).
  • Student Ministry Leadership
    • Provide leadership for Student Ministry activities which include Sunday morning and Midweek activities.
    • Teach the Bible with excellence, clarity, and authenticity, delivering scripturally-grounded messages/lessons that are applicable to the everyday-lives of students.
    • Engage students with opportunities to develop a strong spiritual foundation, a growing faith in Christ, and a passion for outreach.
    • Encourage and facilitate student engagement in the larger church body.
    • Implement a strategy for partnering with parents to reach the next generation with the gospel.
    • Provide opportunities for parents to grow in their ability to disciple & shepherd their own children.
    • Develop, recruit, train, lead, and disciple the Student Ministry Team.
    • Build relationships with and provide care for students.
    • Oversee scheduling of Student Ministry volunteers utilizing Grace Connect (church management software).
    • Identify and evaluate curriculum for Student Ministries.
    • Encourage families through regular and consistent communication.
  • Worship Ministry Leadership
    • Lead and coordinate all music ministry planning and activities.
    • Select music for worship services.
    • Form, schedule, and lead the worship team.
    • Prepare and arrange written music and lyrics for the worship team.
    • Conduct rehearsals with the worship team.
    • Select and approve special music and musicians.
    • Lead worship at regular worship services and special holidays (specifically; Good Friday and Easter, and Christmas Eve.)
    • Oversee song and Scripture data entry for Sunday and other services.
    • Oversee the Creative Arts team and implement creative elements into Sunday Services.
    • Incorporate children/students into the music ministry.
    • Oversee and schedule audio/visual technical volunteers.

Compensation

  • This position will be full time and require an average of 40 hours per week.
  • Salary is negotiable.
