Grace Bible Chapel, Pastoral Ministry Resident (Non-Ordained)

Objectives:

1. To advance Grace Bible Chapel in its mission of Loving God and Loving People.
2. To have a positive ministry experience, growing more passionate for church ministry.
3. To gain greater insight in what ministry God has called you.
4. To gain experience by participating in a breadth of pastoral ministries (e.g., preaching, counseling, baptism, funerals, weddings, visitation, elder meetings, etc…)
5. To work closely with the pastors and other staff, assisting in areas of ministry as assigned:
   • Advancing one primary area of ministry focus (approximately half time)
   • Participate in a variety of other ministries (approximately half time)
6. To cultivate personal spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being, including the sound moral character of a follower of Jesus Christ, in fulfillment of the biblical requirements for pastor and elder (e.g., 1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:7-9).
7. To cultivate the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of your family.

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Hours and Days: 40 hour workweek, with two days off a week

Time off: 5 days PTO over the course of the year, including personal time. Church holidays also off.

Responsibilities

1. To assist the pastor, staff, and elders in pastoral ministry as assigned.
2. To focus on one primary area of ministry over the course of the year, approximately half-time (some effort will be made to align with your gifting).
3. To assist in a variety of other church ministries, as assigned, approximately half-time (some effort will be made to align with your gifting). This will likely include:
   • Working with the Senior Pastor to develop and deliver four-six sermons over the course of the year (including working on preaching skills as assigned).
   • Assisting in some aspect of children’s ministry, as assigned.
   • Assisting in some aspect of youth ministry, as assigned.
   • Assisting in some aspect of ministry administration (oversight and support), as assigned.
   • Assisting in some aspect of the Sunday morning Worship service, as assigned.
   • Assisting in some aspect of Sunday morning Christian education, as assigned.
   • Assisting in other aspects of pastoral ministry as opportunity presents itself (weddings, funerals, etc).
4. To participate in all staff meetings, and in elder meetings as requested.

Support

1. Our church has a one-bedroom apartment on the property, which can be used for your housing. It is in nice shape, with kitchen, bathroom, and washer/drier. Utilities are included, including internet.
2. We will provide a small financial stipend for the duration of the internship for other financial needs.
