Resident Counselor
Reports to: Clinical Supervisor
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Hours: 15+ sessions per week. Some evening hours.
Location: in-person or hybrid. One day a week required at RCS’s midtown office.
Redeemer Counseling Services (RCS) seeks a counselor/therapist, preferably licensed, with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health, or Social Work, who is highly motivated to learn Redeemer Counseling’s unique framework for integration of theology in psychotherapy and apply the framework in practice. They must have a strong interest in integration of theology in psychotherapy.The position offers flexibility in scheduling, with one day per week in-person required for sessions and group supervision. To meet client demand, some evening hours are required. Scheduling clients and individual supervision is set by the counselor.
Counseling:
- Provide regular psychological counseling to individuals, couples, adolescents, and/or families, while growing skills to integrate theology and psychotherapy.
- Meet or exceed the minimum of 440 sessions annually.
- This role is expected to pursue training and supervision to fully understand and apply Gospel-Centered Integrative Framework for Therapy (GIFT).
- Demonstrate learning and application of the core values of RCS and care for staff as well as RCS as a ministry.
- Complete appropriate and timely documentation including termination summaries in data management software.
- Active collaboration with the Administrative Team in regard to scheduling and clarification of policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the code of ethics.
- Return calls of clients within 24 hours.
- Schedule/cancel appointments in timely manner.
- Consult/collaborate with other therapists/doctors for client care.
- Case management: return calls, schedule and cancel appointments, keep accurate records of attendance and payment, complete insurance letter requests, and other case paperwork as required.
1. Receive support and training in a weekly group supervision.
2. Receive support in regularly scheduled individual supervision.
3. Attend annual all-staff meeting and occasional required annual trainings.
- Master’s Degree in either Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health, or Social Work (or other related fields).
- New York State licensure in the profession is preferred.
- Post-graduate experience counseling individuals, couples, and/or families.
- Demonstrated commitment to documentation and best practices of the profession.
- Strong interest in integration of theology and psychology.
- Member of a church.
- Theological alliance with Redeemer Counseling Services: assessed using Employee Questionnaire during application process.
RCS Band: 2 Resident Band for licensed therapists: The residency/Band 2 role is an introductory 6-9 month training period with a promotion after passing an interview focused on the Gospel-Centered Integrative Framework for Therapy (GIFT).
Rates & Benefits:

- Rates for 50 minute clinical sessions range from $40 to $80 per session depending on years of experience and time the session takes place (daytime vs peak or weekend session).
- Rates after a 6-9 month introductory period and successful passing of interview include a promotion with 5-10% raise based on merit.
