Grace Community Church (Nashville, MI) – Lead Pastor
The Big Picture
Grace Community Church (gc3.org) is prayerfully seeking a pastor who is ready to transition into the role of Lead Pastor.
Grace was started in December 1993 by Don Roscoe who has led the church since its inception. The church began in a farmer’s Grange Hall for 6 months, moved into the local high school for 9 years, before occupying its first facility located on 78 acres of land in 2003. The church has had over 400 attenders several times in the past, but two pronounced economic downturns have caused more than a hundred families to re-locate to larger cities and other states. There were several profound supernatural highlights during the establishment of the church that must be understood by the next lead pastor, to ensure a healthy transition and productive future ministry.
Grace was founded with the idea that Christianity should be God-honoring, biblically-based, authentic, fun, community-minded, contemporary styled, and committed to a mission larger than our own lives. Therefore we strive to foster a climate where people are accepted, challenged, loved on, equipped, and released to realize their God-given potential in life and ministry.
Our vision has been to train our own people to be disciple-makers and provide creative strategies to reach their families and friends for Christ. Secondly, to use our resources to help those in our surrounding communities develop basic life skills. Finally, to serve small and mid-sized churches by helping them develop creative and contemporary disciple-making ministries.
Our ministry philosophy has been heavily influenced by the training of Sonlife Ministries. Everything we do is to Win the lost, Build the believer, Equip the worker for God’s harvest field, Multiply disciple-makers, and Influence movements of disciple-making, locally and globally.
This person will provide overall direction for the ministry, perform pastoral duties, supervise and lead staff, and model a shepherd’s care, commitment, and compassion for the congregation. This pastor is the primary voice and visible leader in the ministry and representative of the church in the community. This person is to lead well, listen carefully, learn continually, love intentionally, and labor as one who will be held accountable by the Lord.
The ideal candidate should have 5-8+ years of proven ministry experience. He should be a strong confident leader, a team player, experienced in mentoring staff and volunteers, with an understanding of budgeting, operations, and administrative systems. This would include a person who has led a successful youth / young adult ministry reaching both students and parents for Christ, initiating creative outreaches, leading mission trips, recruiting, training, and leading adult staff. An undergraduate degree is preferred and further theological education from an accredited seminary would be beneficial. The candidate must be actively building redemptive relationships, proven in leading others to faith and mentoring them toward maturity, and able to train and inspire others to likewise.
