Position Requirements
- Degree from theological seminary.
- Doctoral degree preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience as a full-time pastor preferred.
- Pastor in good standing with the Conservative Congregational Christian.
- Conference (4C’s) preferred, or willingness to become in good standing within one year with the financial assistance of the church.
- Well rooted and grounded in the Holy Scripture with a strong commitment to Christian beliefs and Reformed Doctrine.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to be creative and enthusiastic.
- Willingness to partner with the Board of Elders.
- Willingness to provide information relating to certification and background examination as mandated by law or requested by St. Peter’s Reformed Church.
- Evidence of the pursuit of ongoing professional growth through continuing professional development and education opportunities.
- Sets the preaching schedule in accordance with Titus 2 and Acts 20:28 and
accordance with primary ministry objectives.
Specific List of Responsibilities
- Maintains a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and meditation.
- Leads the congregation in worship services, making the gospel relevant to people’s lives through clarity in preaching and communicating a comprehensive understanding of the Holy Scriptures and Reformed Christian Theology.
- Sets the vision and direction of St. Peter’s Reformed Church along with the Board of Elders.
- Includes the development of yearly and three-year goals for St. Peter’s Reformed Church.
- Be responsible to God and to the Consistory with constant communication of relevant activities concerning the life of the congregation and through the monthly newsletter.
- Functions as chief administrator for all of St. Peter’s Reformed Church’s programs.
- Administers the Holy Sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism.
- Responsible for visitation and counseling.
- This may be delegated to other pastors, lay people or referred to a licensed counselor.
- Visitation will include, but is not limited to hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins, and new attendees.
- Counseling includes crisis, marriage, pre-marital, and general settings.
- Oversees the Confirmation Class education and conducts new membership classes for those interested in joining St. Peter’s Reformed Church and instructs individuals seeking conversion to faith.
- Oversees and provides guidance to Bible study classes and small group
studies. - Oversees and provides guidance when obtaining pulpit supplies during absence from worship services.
- Meets regularly with the Consistory President.
- Supervises, provides guidance, and coordinates the work of the Church Staff.
- Represents in the Harmony-Zelienople Ministerial Association and other related affairs of the community.
- Available to attend church committee meetings when requested.
- Participates in the Western Pennsylvania Area Fellowship meetings of the 4C’s Conference and the 4C’s Annual Conference.
- Meets with the Board of Elders on a monthly basis or more frequently as needed.
- Through discussions with the Board of Elders, other duties may be
deemed essential for the growth and vitality of St. Peter’s Reformed Church.

- Conducts weddings, funeral, and performs infant and new believer baptisms.
- Develops personal and church member evangelism opportunities within and outside of St. Peter’s Reformed Church.
