Overview: Christ Community Church of Willoughby, OH is seeking an experienced pastor who is knowledgeable of and faithful to the Scriptures and has a gift to preach, teach and equip the church for evangelism, discipleship, and service. Candidates must demonstrate a life as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Acts 6:4, must be living a life that aligns with the church’s statement of faith in God, a strong commitment to Christ, the leading of the Spirit, and the authority of the Scripture. Five years of lead pastor experience is preferred.

Organizational Structure: The church is located in beautiful Lake County in the city of Willoughby, an eastern suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. It has been in existence since the mid 1970’s and is a small, independent congregation. Average attendance is approximately 100 men, women and children for Sunday services. We have a structurally sound building and are debt free. We believe strongly in missions, financially supporting local and international missions organizations. We are generally Reformed in perspective and theologically baptistic. We are Elder led in our governing practices (1 Pet 5:1-4). Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preach weekly worship services that are consistent with the Church’s mission and objectives and aligned with its statement of faith.
  • Teach new member classes as needed.
  • Lead volunteers or staff.
  • Visit members, shut-ins, and visitors as needed.
  • Coordinate ministry activities that reflect the mission of the church.
  • Clearly communicate to the leadership board about contacts, activities, concerns and needs (frequency as set by the leadership board).
  • Schedule regular church office hours subject to approval by the leadership board.
  • Provide and/or refer counseling as needed (pre-marital and otherwise).
  • Develop relationships within the community.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned by the leadership board. Specific details would be developed by the Elder Board and the incoming Pastor to address goals.

Qualifications: In addition to the qualities outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Acts 6:4, candidates must demonstrate these qualifications:

  • Maintains a strong personal relationship with the Lord; engages in consistent, regular prayer and Bible study.
  • Has a strong commitment to the call of serving the Lord as a pastor/teacher.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Has discernment to apply relevant biblical principles to current events.
  • Is able to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media.
  • Has earned a ministerial degree; applicant without a degree or a degree in another field may be considered with sufficient ministry experience.
  • Demonstrates a desire for continuous personal and professional growth.
