Job Summary:
Midtown West Worship Director works in partnership with the congregation’s leadership to lead, create, and implement a worship ministry that is Gospel-centered, ministers to the congregation of Midtown West, and leads them into worship. Principally the Worship Director is responsible for the Sunday service planning, Sunday worship leadership and directing, building a team of volunteers through developing gifted musicians in the community of Midtown West and shepherding that team through relational ministry.
Functions & Responsibilities
Craft and lead weekly congregational worship services & develop and oversee a team of worship volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain working knowledge of Planning Center, Music Stand, & ProPresenter.
- Gain working knowledge of existing musical & tech equipment.
- Build, develop, and care for team of worship volunteers.
- Schedule Sunday morning worship volunteers.
- Work with pastor to create and implement unique and community specific worship vision.
- Work with pastor to plan weekly worship services.
- Create and edit chord charts.
- Put together service details in Planning Center.
- Set up band area & distribute any printed material.
- Set up services in ProPresenter and Music Stand.
- Communicate weekly information to worship volunteers.
- Lead band rehearsals.
- Recruit, train, and incorporate new worship volunteers on a regular basis.
- Develop additional worship leaders.
- Create and manage congregational worship budget.
- Plan and lead additional events and services outside of Sunday mornings.
- Schedule and oversee paid audio engineers.
Additional functioning roles:
- Co-labors with congregational leadership to create a worship ministry that aligns with the vision & values of the congregation.
- Collaborates with other Midtown Worship Directors to learn best practices & problem-solve issues.
- Attends weekly Midtown West weekly staff meetings.
- Meets regularly with the Midtown West Pastor for planning and development.
- Reports to the Executive Pastor as it relates to objectives, logistical and administrative aspects of the role.
- Participates in the life and community of Midtown West as a member of the church.
Education, Skills, and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- High level of musical and vocal ability.
- Proficiency in Office Suite and general computer software.
- Administration and teaching skills.
- Proven ability to regularly deliver against deadlines and work with a staff team to handle exceptions as they arise.
- Ability to lead, direct, and preside over a worship team and service.
- Humility and teachability.
- An active and committed Christian faith with beliefs and lifestyle consistent with the doctrine of the PCA.
