Assistant Pastor

Pastor of Worship & Evangelism

Purpose: This new Full-Time position is being developed to organize and orchestrate volunteer worship elements each week as well as to engage the community in ways that invite new families to find their place and grow at Guinston.

Responsibilities:
Worship: Coordinate worship volunteers (time commitment: approx. 50%).

• Oversee and mentor the worship volunteers (musicians, vocalists, and technicians), providing
  spiritual guidance and training.
• Work with teams and their team leaders to organize the musical aspect of worship weekly.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
• Contribute to and help lead worship liturgically (prayer, reading, sacraments, etc.).
• Preach approx. 10 times per year.

Evangelism: Creatively engage the community to attract new families into the flock.

• Engage with current outreach efforts.
• Develop and implement outreach initiatives to share the Gospel with the local community.
• Lead and equip members to be active in evangelism and sharing their faith.
• Create opportunities for the church to connect with and serve the community.
• Foster a culture of outreach within the church, encouraging both local and global missions.

Discipleship: Disciple present and new members of the church family.

• Support current discipleship ministries (Sunday school, youth group, Bible studies).
• Develop and lead new programs that support the spiritual growth and health of families by training parents to disciple their children.
• Help establish a Discipleship Training Program to motivate and equip would-be mentors

Miscellaneous – Ministry is unpredictable and there will certainly be other unforeseen needs in the church including but not limited to weddings, funerals, hospital and home visits, counseling, etc. These duties fall primarily on the current pastor, but there may be occasions when he is unavailable. We are also willing to build on a strong applicant’s strengths. As a new position these expectations can be somewhat fluid. Should a candidate have stronger gifts in one or another area, the pastor and session will periodically revisit ministry assignments.
