Pastoral Residency – Church Planting

Church Planting Residency at Trinity Anglican, Atlanta (July 2026 – July 2028)

Trinity Anglican Church (ACNA, C4SO) in Atlanta is hiring a Church Planting Resident to join our staff for two years (July 2026 – July 2028) to be supported, mentored, trained, and developed to plant a local congregation. As a member of our pastoral team you will be engaged in and leading in various ministries of the church while growing key core competencies to prepare you to plant a congregation in the Summer/Fall of 2028.. 

FT – 40 hrs/week

Serves on various teams during ministry rounds

Duties & Responsibilities

Pastoral Rounds

You will join key members of our pastoral team for Ministry rounds where you will gain a deep understanding of the philosophy and practices of each ministry area. You will be given significant areas of responsibility during each of these rounds as a way to develop your gifts and contribute to the ongoing ministry of the church. You will also be preaching and teaching in various contexts.

Ministry Creation 

You will be creating and developing ministry initiatives and/or programs within chosen ministry areas of the church and for the purpose of building your planting team. 

Mentoring 

You will meet with a variety of staff members and mentors to help you reflect and process your experiences, question, learn, and grow in church planting core competencies and spiritual formation.

Structured Learning 

You will be in a variety of learning environments such as cohorts within our diocese and among our pastoral team. You may also be reading books and taking classes. These books and classes will be chosen based on your learning goals and the learning you have received prior to this residency. Included in this structured learning will be the ordination process within our diocese, if you have not been ordained.

Build a team 

You will be building relationships with people within Trinity and outside who might choose to be a part of your core planting team. You will recruit, inspire, equip, disciple, and prepare this team to plant with you.  

Required Qualifications

  • Alignment with Trinity Core Commitments, values, and vision
  • Alignment with Trinity’s statement of Christian Belief & Character
  • Must acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior and exhibit a growing maturity in the likeness of Christ.
  • Must be a seminary graduate or nearing the completion of your seminary degree.
