Other Details

Emmanuel Lutheran Church is seeking a dynamic pastor who believes that the Church’s purpose and values come from the Bible which is the inspired word of God. We believe in the priorities taught and lived by Christ. We believe the focus of a Christian life is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

The pastor of our congregation should be certified by LCMC (or willing to seek certification) and have experience in leading a Lutheran congregation. The pastor should be a minister who would lead us in seeking, celebrating, and sharing the peace of Christ with our community and the world. The pastor should exemplify Biblical preaching, communicate faith and beliefs through sermons, and be an effective teacher and Bible study leader. The pastor should be able to
demonstrate through actions and past history the characteristics of church leadership and agree to subscribe to the LCMC Statement of Faith and Pastoral Admonitions.

Our church was founded in 1904. We are located in Knippa, Texas, a small community where agriculture and small business provide the major occupations. We are halfway between the cities of San Antonio and Del Rio which are each an hour away. Knippa is within a 10-minute drive to the larger town of Uvalde, and a 20 minutes’ drive to the Frio River recreational area. This places us within a short distance of major businesses, medical facilities, and recreational facilities, including camping, hunting and fishing. We are proud of our Knippa School District, one of the top five percent academically of all schools in the state, where high school graduates may complete their college Associates of Arts degree along with their high school diploma. Our church is debt-free. Our campus includes a sanctuary that seats about 100 people, an annex that is used for adult Sunday School and small meetings, as well as offices for the pastor and secretary, and a parsonage. It also includes a large fellowship hall that is used for meetings, receptions, congregational events and the annual supper fundraiser that supports a number of charities. Our Sunday attendance is approximately 30-35 people. Our church family has a larger percentage of senior members and multi-generational families. The membership is a cohesive group: faithful, vibrant, loving, and hard-working. We are committed to growing God’s family by sharing the love
of Christ and welcoming and inspiring all people through worship, fellowship, service, and outreach. We have active participation in weekly Bible study groups for men and women, and an active bell choir. We host a vibrant community Vacation Bible School.
