Position Summary
The Worship Leader serves Trinity Evangelical Church by leading congregational worship and partnering closely with the Lead Pastor to create Sunday gatherings that are biblically grounded, spiritually meaningful, and engaging. This person will provide strong musical leadership while building a healthy, dependable team of volunteers who use their gifts in service to Christ and His Church.
Trinity’s mission is to be rooted in Jesus, growing together, and serving our community. The Worship Leader helps advance that mission by creating space for the congregation to worship together and by developing people, not simply producing music.
About Sunday Worship at Trinity
From September through June, Trinity ordinarily holds two Sunday services at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM. During the summer, the church holds one Sunday service at 10:00 AM. Services include worship music, biblical teaching, and fellowship. The Worship Leader should be comfortable serving a multigenerational congregation and drawing from Christian worship music across multiple styles and generations.

- Serve as a spiritual example through character, humility, integrity, and servant leadership.
- Pray regularly for the church, its members, leaders, ministries, and surrounding communities.
- Support the vision, mission, and leadership of Trinity Evangelical Church.
Core Responsibilities
- Worship Planning & Leadership
- Partner with the Lead Pastor to plan weekly worship services and agreed-upon special services.
- Lead the musical portion of Sunday worship gatherings with spiritual, musical, and pastoral sensitivity.
- Select and prepare worship sets that support the biblical themes and goals of each service.
- Lead regular worship-team rehearsals and ensure musicians and vocalists are prepared for Sunday services.
- Maintain a sustainable weekly rhythm for service planning, music preparation, rehearsal, and Sunday leadership.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, schedule, train, encourage, and develop worship-team volunteers.
- Build a healthy volunteer culture that values preparation, teamwork, spiritual growth, and dependable service.
- Identify and develop future worship leaders and provide appropriate opportunities for others to lead.
- Shepherd and care for worship-team volunteers in coordination with the pastoral staff.
- Administration & Collaboration
- Manage Planning Center for worship-service scheduling, song planning, volunteer communication, and related ministry workflows.
- Participate in staff meetings and ministry planning meetings as appropriate to a 20-hour-per-week role.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with volunteers, staff, and ministry leaders.
- Collaborate with audio/visual volunteers and other ministry leaders as needed; technical production is not the primary responsibility of this role.
- Assist the Lead Pastor and church leadership with annual worship-ministry goals, budget planning, and stewardship of church-owned instruments and equipment.
Qualifications
- Required
- Demonstrated and growing commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with Trinity Evangelical Church’s Statement of Faith, Constitution, and ministry philosophy.
- Demonstrated experience leading congregational worship in a church setting.
- Strong lead-vocal ability and proficiency on guitar or keyboard sufficient to lead a worship team confidently.
- Ability to lead a band musically, prepare arrangements, and communicate clearly during rehearsals.
- Experience recruiting, organizing, and developing volunteers.
- Knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generations.
- Strong relational, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Lead Pastor and church staff.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, humility, and servant leadership.
- Preferred
- Experience using Planning Center Services or comparable worship-planning software.
- Formal training in music, worship ministry, theology, or a related field is welcome but not required.
- Experience developing additional worship leaders or building a volunteer worship ministry.
Measurements of Success
The Worship Leader will be evaluated by:
- Spiritual leadership, character, and alignment with Trinity Evangelical Church.
- Effectiveness in leading biblically grounded, musically strong, and congregationally engaging worship gatherings.
- Development, health, reliability, and retention of worship-team volunteers.
- Quality of collaboration and communication with the Lead Pastor, staff, elders, and ministry leaders.
- Faithful stewardship of the time and resources assigned to this part-time role.
Schedule & Role Boundaries
This is an approximately 20-hour-per-week role. The Worship Leader is expected to prioritize Sunday worship leadership, weekly service planning, rehearsal, volunteer development, and essential administration. Broader church-wide initiatives and special events will be planned in advance with the Lead Pastor so the role remains sustainable within its part-time scope.
