The First Presbyterian Church of Monte Vista is seeking a candidate with a (Master) of Divinity Degree with the ability to efficiently Preach/Teach, Lead/Administer, provide pastoral care in the ECO denomination OR willingness to be ordained in and to affirm the Essential Tenets of ECO.

Requirements of the Job

  • Ordained ECO pastor.
  • Adherence to ECO Tenets and Confessional Standards.
  • Preach and teach the Word of God.
  • Plan and lead weekly Sunday morning services and Special Services.
  • Provide leadership and oversight.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Administer the Sacraments (monthly communion, baptisms).
  • Officiate at weddings and funerals.
  • Moderate meetings of the Session and congregation.
  • Coach and nurture Elders and Deacons.
  • Provide spiritual and administrative leadership for the congregation.
  • Provide pastoral care for the congregation and all who seek comfort and guidance through the church (home, hospital, facility visitations).
  • Assist boards and committees in their ministries.
  • Train newly elected officers and assist in preparing persons for membership.
  • Participate in the life and work of the Presbytery.
  • Regularly perform community outreach.
  • Be a warm, personal presence.
  • Have problem-solving and listening skills.

It is understood that the pastor is accountable to the Presbytery through the Ministry Partnership Team. This is a Full-Time position.

The role of the pastor may be further defined from time to time as indicated by the needs of the church and by mutual agreement of the pastor and Session.
