Our Pastor will lead the congregation of Petersburg Baptist Church towards a growing relationship with Christ and one another by pursuing our Biblically-based mission of knowing Christ in growing ways, showing Christ in all ways, and proclaiming Christ as we go our way. The Pastor will oversee the spiritual, administrative, and worship aspects of the church\’s life by preaching the whole counsel of God, administering the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord\’s Supper, and directing the growth, development, and spiritual welfare of our leaders and congregation.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching and preaching at most of our worship services and at other ministry opportunities throughout the week.
• Serve as a fully functioning member of the Elder Board
  • Providing spiritual and team leadership as together they plan.
  • direct and oversee the church.
  • be accountable to and seek the counsel and advise of the Elder Board in the performance of his duties.
• Have regular personal contact with the congregation.
• Participate in recruiting and training volunteers to serve in areas of ministry
  • Equipping them for work in the ministry.
  • Provide oversight and direction concerning the administrative structure and systems of the church.
• Officiate and conduct special services such as funerals, baby dedications, weddings, premarital counseling, community services and other special events.
• Network, collaborate and support other like-minded churches and community service ministries in our area.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong faith walk and prayer life, demonstrated leadership ability, a caring and nurturing, shepherding nature, a passion for discipleship and leadership training, a passion for evangelism and community involvement, an expository preaching style. A degree in theology or Biblical studies from an accredited college or university is needed.
