Background:
The Worship Director is a vital role at Bethel Community Church, acting as a key figure in leading the church in praise and worship. The primary responsibilities for the worship coordinator are focused on planning, managing and strategically leading the worship team. The groups director serves the church by managing and overseeing the community groups and segment groups ministries of the church (seniors, men’s, women’s. He or she will work with the staff and elders to develop the vision and the strategies for the “groups” ministry. He or she will be responsible for the recruitment, training and coaching of group and segment ministry leaders and oversee and coach the team to accomplish their purpose.
Responsibilities for Worship Director:
- Lead the worship team during practice and the weekly Sunday gathering (10:15 a.m.).
- Work with lead pastor, A/V Team Leader and staff to plan weekly worship gatherings and strategize to continually enhance the Sunday gathering of BCC.
- Plan events (like Easter, baptism, child dedication, etc.) and introducing new songs and creative elements.
- Assist in selecting songs and planning worship gatherings (with lead pastor).
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with staff.
- Oversee and coach the A/V Team Director.
- Disciple, coach and maintain schedule for assigned worship team members.
- Help discover and develop new worship team members and leaders.
Responsibilities for Groups Director:
- Oversee the Grow Ministry—community groups, segment groups (men’s, women’s, senior’s, etc.) and Bethel Equip.
- Recruit, equip and train group leaders.
- Help group leaders identify, prepare and coach assistant group leaders to launch new groups.
- Oversee and work in collaboration with the staff and elders to develop the framework, structures and strategies by which the community groups and segment ministries function.
- Regularly (at least quarterly) meet with and coach community groups and segment ministries leaders. Provide a yearly review to the leaders and strategize for individual group success and multiplication. Provide relevant documents to lead pastor/elders.
- Develop a simple outline and discussion questions for community groups Leaders based on weekly sermons.
- Work with lead pastor to provide direction for curricula for segment ministry groups and to confirm (with the assistance of either the lead pastor and/or elders) the suitability of curricula.
- Help groups leaders to plan and/or coordinate groups social outings, service or outreach opportunities and participation in church activities.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Coordinate teachers for (and possibly teach) Bethel Equip classes.
- Fulfill other duties assigned by the lead pastor as able (depending on gifting, training, etc.).
Provided Training/Resources:
- Monthly coaching check-ins with lead pastor.
- Church-wide leadership training events as announced.
- Ongoing education through conferences and/or other informal means, such as reading and discussing books, to develop theologically, leadership skills and musically.
- Personal laptop for BCC use.
- Church-owned guitar, keyboard, etc. available as needed.
