Position: Assistant or Associate Pastor of Children’s Ministries (Full time, Salaried)

Mission:

  • CCCNJ is a family-oriented church which aims to serve young families.
  • To provide pastoral care and spiritual nourishment for the children of CCCNJ (ages 0-13) and their parents
  • To provide vision and leadership to motivate, teach, equip and disciple children and their parents to love God and love people and share the Gospel with non-believers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Personal Spiritual Expectations

  • Maintain a growing relationship with the Lord that includes regular prayer, worship and reading of the Word.
  • Continue to develop leadership gifts as well as an understanding of children and children’s ministry through on-going training, ministry networking, and personal
    development.

Ministry Expectations

  • Oversee ministry strategy to reach children and their parents for God’s Kingdom.
  • Preach and teach age-appropriate messages to children, and provide pastoral guidance to parents.
  • Recruit, equip, and disciple volunteers for Children’s Ministry teams.
  • Oversee and plan Children’s Sunday School curriculum that is Biblical, creative, relational, and fun.
  • Key Ministries: Weekly Sunday programs for preschool and elementary during Sunday Worship services, Weekly Friday programs for preschool and elementary during
    fellowship meetings, Annual Vacation Bible School (VBS), Annual Easter Outreach, and other activities as necessary.

Leadership Expectations

  • Lead/Co-lead Children’s Council Leadership meetings.
  • Connect with volunteers in prayer, appreciation, and spiritual encouragement.
  • Ensure volunteer and paid staff working with children are adhering to current church minor protection policies.

Staff & Administrative Expectations

  • Partner with the Youth Pastor to understand contemporary culture and needs, and holistically guide children through youth and adulthood.
  • Collaborate with the Children’s Deacon in budgeting, planning, and executing ministry activities.
  • Participate in weekly Pastoral staff meetings and monthly Elder Board meetings.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a 4-year undergraduate degree in studies that are related to church ministry.
  • At least three years of experience as a children’s pastor, director, or position with similar scope of responsibility, preferably in a Chinese heritage church.

Other Qualifications

  • Possesses solid biblical understanding and agreement with the doctrinal statement of CCCNJ.
  • Professional fluency in English is required.
  • Professional fluency in oral Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred, or at minimum familiarity in a multi-cultural context of serving in a Chinese-American church.
  • Has a love for children and spiritual calling to serve the Church through the serving of children and their parents.
  • Appreciates and adapts to individual children’s uniqueness, seeking creative methods with a strong desire to reach them and see them grow in their walk with Christ.
  • Has the maturity to provide leadership and direction for a cross-congregational ministry that coordinates, serves, and ministers to the English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese
    congregations.

Benefits and Supervision

  • Competitive compensation package, including health and dental insurance and retirement plans are offered.
  • The candidate shall be approved by the church General Assembly to be hired, and shall be reconfirmed after one year, as per church bylaws.
  • Contract terms are determined by the Joint Board.
  • This position is under the direct supervision of the CCCNJ Elder Board and responsible elder.
  • Must submit to a background check prior to offer being tendered, and abide by CCCNJ’s Minor Protection Policy.
