Youth Pastor Position
Purpose of this Position
- To lead the youth ministry of Oversea Chinese Mission.
- To provide spiritual leadership to develop the mature Christian lives of the Youth through shepherding, scriptural teaching, and discipleship training.
- To mold our Youth into a “Mission-Minded” generation.
- To lead OCM along with the Senior Pastor and the Pastoral Staff as a team.
Status
Full-time, salaried with benefits (Salary range from $72,000-$88,000).
Ministry Structure
The Youth Pastor shall serve with the Pastoral Staff as a team in which the Youth Pastor is the team leader in order to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ and to nurture the OCM youth with sound biblical teaching. The Youth Pastor shall serve under the supervision of the English Pastor and report to the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications—Education, Theology and Experience
- Clear calling to full-time youth ministry.
- Has the title of Reverend/Ordained Pastor.
- Undergraduate Degree from accredited college or university (Christian education, theology, or related fields a plus).
- MA/MDiv Degree or equivalent from an accredited seminary.
- Experience working cross-culturally (volunteer or staff).
- Served in a Chinese Heritage Church or similar type of background with at least 3 years of experience.
- Language: fluency in English, knowledge of Mandarin or Cantonese a strong plus.
- Experience working with youth (JHS 6th grade to 8th grade and HS 9th grade to 12th grade).
MINISTRY DESCRIPTION
The Youth Pastor shall provide pastoral leadership in all areas of the youth ministry at OCM. His responsibilities shall include, but are not be limited to, the preaching and teaching the Word of God, the development and coordination of ministries and programs within the scope of the youth ministry of OCM. He shall participate in the recruitment and training of volunteer youth advisors; implement discipleship and mentoring programs with the youth; coordinate with other church staff, lay leaders, and co-workers to enable the youth ministry to operate with effectiveness and efficiency.
General Responsibilities
- Preach and teach the Word of God on a regular basis.
- Develop and implement programs that attract youth to Christ and that promote spiritual growth.
- Provide guidance for youth groups in the use of program materials, equipment, supplies, and space utilization.
- Prepare an annual budget that is reflective of the goals and objectives of the ministry.
- Nurture healthy relationships with parents and guardians of all youth, encouraging them to grow more Christ-like in their parenting.
- Keep abreast of cultural trends relevant to the youth.
- Administer programs to recruit and equip adults to serve within the youth programs.
- Develop and implement an outreach program to the youth in our community.
- Participate in youth related events and activities.
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteer youth advisors.
- Develop and mentor students’ leaders.

- Report to: Senior Pastor.
- Supervision: English Pastor.
- Annual Review.
