Worship Pastor

 

Purpose: We are looking for a full-time Worship Pastor or part-time Worship Leader to lead all aspects of the worship ministry including service planning, praise team, band, technology, and production. If ordained and full-time, this person would also join the pastoral leadership team.

 

Status: Full-time or part-time depending on the candidate

 

About us:

  • We are an SBC church located near the Winston-Salem area of North Carolina with a history of faithful biblical teaching and missions involvement. We are a growing, multi-generational church. The area around the church is experiencing an exciting increase in population. God graciously continues to draw new families to our church. In order to reach the “next ten generations for Christ,” we have begun construction on a new children’s wing that will set us up for future growth.

 

About the position:

  • After the retirement of our current worship pastor, we are prayerfully seeking someone who can faithfully lead our worship ministry. 
  • The ideal candidate would be familiar with modern worship music as well as possessing the ability to integrate a variety of hymns into a contemporary style.
  • The position is open to full-time or part-time candidates. If full-time, the requirement would be for the candidate to be ordained (or become ordained) and fulfill pastoral responsibilities according to gifting and the assignment of the senior pastor. If part-time, the responsibilities would be limited to those under the “worship” section below, and it would not be considered a pastoral position. 
  • Preferably, the candidate would be able to provide direction for maintaining and upgrading church technology and sound quality. 

 

About the staff:

  • Currently, there are four full-time and two part-time staff members. 
  • We seek to develop a staff culture where we see each other as a team of servant leaders, who work together with excellence and integrity to love, lead, teach, and equip the church for the work of ministry, measuring our success by faithfulness to God’s word. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Worship
    • Lead a worship ministry that is biblical, God-glorifying, and values participation over performance
    • Encourage authentic and Spirit-filled worship
    • Recruit volunteers and oversee the ongoing development of worship teams (including but not limited to vocalists, instrumentalists, and technology team members)
    • Prayerfully collaborate with the Senior Pastor in planning all regular worship services and special events (currently, we have 2 Sunday morning services and 1 on Wednesday nights)
    • Incorporate a variety of worship elements, including but not limited to, Scripture reading, prayer, confession, thanksgiving as well as a variety of musical styles, tempos, and formats
    • Schedule and oversee regular worship team practices
    • Plan and administer a yearly budget for the worship ministry 
    • Preferably able to oversee production and streaming 
  • Other Responsibilities (if Full-Time)
    • Join with other staff members to lead, equip, and care for the church
    • Help to align and administer church vision, values, and action steps
    • Provide oversight to a particular ministry area as determined by personal gifting and pastoral direction
    • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor

 

Personal Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Born again believer in Jesus Christ continually pursuing spiritual maturity
  • Have a calling to ministry 
  • Exhibit excellence and integrity in all work and relationships 
  • A self-starter who takes initiative to accomplish tasks without supervision
  • Be or become a member of GMBC
  • Agree with the BFM 2000
  • Be a team player who is able to communicate well and build up others
  • Accomplished vocalist and preferably able to play an instrument 
  • Ability to use and train others to use church worship technology
  • Possess organizational skills
  • Experience preferred with Planning Center Services, ProPresenter, Resi, YouTube Studio, sound systems, and applicable worship and production technology
  • Be able to learn new technology and programs quickly and able to train others

 

Education and Experience:

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in a ministry-related field) or relevant experience (4 years)
