Job Description: Family Ministry Director

All Saints Kids is a place for kids to encounter God as kids, to be taught His Great Story, and to learn what it means to be a member of Christ’s church.

In light of this vision, the Family Ministry Director will supervise, plan, and coordinate all aspects of All Saints Kids Sunday morning time, nursery to 5th grade. This includes:

  • Providing age-appropriate Christian formation that teaches Scripture and doctrines of the church, and helps children develop spiritual practices (e.g. prayer, engaging with Scripture).
  • Recruiting, training, and managing a team of servers who love kids
  • Ensuring Safe Church protocols are followed and necessary trainings and background checks are up to date annually for anyone serving with children (NOTE: any candidate must complete Safe Church training, background check and all safety protocols to be hired)

This person must have administrative skills and a systematic approach to thinking about kids’ ministry. Yes: they must love kids! But this person will also be able to oversee servers, support and equip them, and create systems to aid growth.

Additional responsibilities include: supporting the Rector in involving kids in the life of the church, supporting caregivers and families to disciple kids in the home, and thinking forward about ministering to kids as they approach & enter middle school.

This person is expected to participate as any community member would on Sunday mornings and in other aspects of church life.

Type of Position: Salaried, 20hrs/week, with intentions for growth in responsibility.

Working Hours

  • Regular attendance required at Sunday services and church-wide events. Sunday mornings are the key weekly time for this role – set-up, connecting with families, overseeing volunteers, and availability to mentor older students after the service.
  • One required morning in the office to be involved with staff in meetings & planning.
  • Other hours are flexible: this may include eventual evening programming 1 night a week or after school time to connect with kids.
  • Required Sabbath day per week, consisting of a 24 hour period of rest from all work related to ministry.

Compensation

  • Between $21-25/hour, depending on experience.
  • Benefits: professional development stipend.
  • Time off: 2 weeks annually; maximum 4 Sundays off annually.

Experience & Education

  • 1-2+ years experience leading Kids ministry in a local church context is preferred, or equivalent experience in another setting, or clear, strong competencies and readiness to grow into this role.
