The Garden Church is seeking a passionate, organized, and reliable leader to guide and grow our Kids’ Ministry!

We are a small but vibrant church community in Boston’s South End committed to creating a safe, joyful, and spiritually enriching space for kids to encounter the love of Jesus.

This part-time role (10 hours per week) includes preparing and managing curriculum, training and encouraging volunteers, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and communicating regularly with parents.

The Kids’ Ministry Lead is expected to be present on Sunday mornings at least three weeks per month and attend one staff meeting per month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare or adapt weekly, age-appropriate Kids’ Church lessons (curriculum provided).
  • Oversee Sunday morning class setup and volunteer support.
  • Order and maintain Kids’ Church supplies and equipment.
  • Create and manage weekly volunteer schedule and team communications.
  • Recruit, train, and support kids’ ministry volunteers.
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers about ministry updates and policies.
  • Manage the kids’ ministry budget in collaboration with church leadership.
  • Help ensure safety protocols and best practices are consistently followed.

Ideal Candidate

  • A heart for children and a passion for spiritual formation.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and follows through with minimal supervision.
  • A clear and compassionate communicator—able to relate well to children, parents, and volunteers.
  • Experience in children’s ministry, teaching, or childcare (preferred).
  • Familiarity with child safety standards and inclusive ministry practices.
  • Ability to equip and encourage volunteers of varying experience levels.
  • Comfort with basic tech tools such as Google Suite; experience with online learning platforms, Planning Center, or other ministry tools is a plus (training available).
