Meet Alton Bay Christian Retreat Center:

The Alton Bay Christian Retreat Center (ABCRC), also known as the Alton Bay Camp Meeting Association, is a year-round ministry located in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. With stunning views of Lake Winnipesaukee, ABCRC offers a diverse range of lodging and meeting facilities. These are utilized to host overnight retreats, summer camps, community events, and various ministry functions tailored to church groups. The center offers over 100 private cottages, some available for purchase and others for rental.

Established in 1863, ABCRC proudly celebrates its 157th year of continuous Gospel proclamation. Throughout its rich history, countless individuals have found faith and fellowship here, gathering with fellow Christians to celebrate the name of Jesus. ABCRC’s signature Christian Camp Meeting and summer programs offer a unique space to encounter Christian artists, speakers, and concerts. They provide a community atmosphere for believers to enjoy the grounds, find rest, and worship together. Beyond hosted programs, ABCRC welcomes guests to bring their own retreats and pursue a deeper connection with God. This unique location in New Hampshire offers inspiration, recreation, and relaxation for people of all ages. Year-round, ABCRC serves as a haven for Evangelical Christian retreat groups of all ages seeking a special place of reflection and connection in New England.

About the Executive Director:

The Executive Director provides supervisory leadership and coordination over all of Alton Bay Christian Retreat Center. This includes, but is not limited to, supervisory oversight of ABCRC staff (Full-time, part-time, and seasonal). This position provides a specific focus on the day-to-day operational activities supporting ABCRC ministries. The Executive Director will be responsible for ensuring that all programs and staff are aligned with and will advance the mission, vision, and values of ABCRC.

He or she will have a winsome and welcoming presence that connects well with members, cottage owners, guests, and the staff of ABCRC.  The executive director will be an effective visionary leader who capably maintains the health of the organization while seeking new opportunities to expand the ministry of ABCRC throughout New England and beyond.

The Executive Director’s Responsibilities Include: 

  • Lead our mission by fostering collaboration among the Board of Directors, members, and our dedicated ABCRC staff.
  • Shape a compelling vision for our retreat center bringing it to life through strategic implementation.
  • Cultivate open and effective communication channels to ensure alignment and engagement among all stakeholders of the organization.
  • Inspire and guide our passionate team of ABCRC Staff, Retreat Planners, and Volunteers towards our shared objectives.
  • Reconstruct and expand your team by recruiting dedicated staff members and volunteers both inside and outside the retreat center.
  • Utilize resources effectively to maximize impact and ensure sustainability.
  • Demonstrate prudence and foresight in managing our annual budget.
  • Create an exciting and impactful yearly summer ministry calendar and events lineup to minister to all age groups within the organization, as well as engaging the local regional churches when possible.
  • Collaborate with various committees within the retreat center to promote unity throughout the campus.
  • Influence the direction of ABCRC through active interaction and participation with the Board, shaping agendas and guiding decisions to fruition.
  • Set the bar for Biblically Spiritual Leadership across all facets of our ministry and business operations.
  • Foster continuous improvement by ensuring procedures are in place to implement the policies of the organization.
  • Lead the organization as the Chief Advancement Officer within this vibrant community.
  • Supervise daily operations while overseeing the support staff.
  •  Oversee the direction of the retreat ministry and lead the charge in growing the calendar of retreats coming to ABCRC.

What You Bring:

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years experience showcasing effective leadership in either a business, education, or ministry environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of equivalent professional experience, preferred.

  • Be able to take a leadership role and actively engage in advancement and development initiatives within the organization.
  •  Possess a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of New England culture.
