New Hampton Community Church is prayerfully seeking an Associate Pastor for the Primary Roles of Music Director/Worship Leader and to Lead Family and Children’s Ministry. We have decided to combine two part time Director positions into a 30-40 hour per week Associate Pastor position.   New Hampton, NH is beautiful area situated in-between Newfound Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee in the Lakes region of NH.

Job Description

To provide leadership in developing and implementing the music ministry of New Hampton Community Church, to actively promote congregational participation in worship through music, and to implement and lead the Children’s and Family Ministry (including Sunday School).

Spiritual and Personal Qualifications
The Associate Pastor shall…

  • Have a personal, growing, relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  • Accept the Bible as the inspired Word of God, serving as our ultimate guide for both faith, which encompasses our beliefs, and life, which pertains to how we conduct ourselves.
  • Be a person of integrity and Christian character.
  • Accept, practice, promote the doctrinal standards, ordinances, and polity of New Hampton Community Church.
  • Be committed to ministry in New Hampton Community Church and will minister with a servant’s attitude.
  • Be a musician with experience in music leadership and proficient (preferably) at keyboard, or guitar.
  • Enjoy working with people and have the ability to relate and work with individuals of all generations, especially children and youth.
  • Have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, be flexible, teachable, and exhibit a servant heart and attitude.
  • Be a self-disciplined, self-motivated, hard-working individual who is willing to put in the time and give the effort to accomplish ministry with excellence.
  • Possess experience, training, and expertise in the field of music, worship, and Christian education.
  • Set a good example of personal, spiritual, and family life.

Areas of Responsibility
The Associate Pastor shall…

  • Cooperate with the Pastors, plan, choose and implement the music for all worship services, including all special services- Communion, Lent, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, Mother’s Day, Children’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas Eve, Funerals, and Special Worship events.
  • Schedule and oversee musicians and singers for all services and rehearsals- organ, piano, keyboard, guitar, drums, singers, etc.
  • Collaborate with the IT Team for the use of multi-media to enhance and strengthen the worship experience.
  • Provide leadership for congregational singing at worship services to encourage and inspire enthusiastic participation in worship.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with musicians and singers regarding the order of worship, special music, musical arrangements, musician, and singers schedule, and any other music matters.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with the IT Team for projection or audio needs and the administrative assistant for the bulletin information.
  • Be responsible for all Sunday School classes (recruiting teachers, assisting with curriculum, etc.)
  • Lead Vacation Bible School (one week per summer)
  • Work with the Youth Director (Youth Group Leader) to assist with programs, ministry, etc
  • Encourage, recruit, and develop singers and musicians for participation on the worship team.
  • Attend Deacons (bi-monthly) and Elders Meetings (once per month).
  • Complete a Music Ministry and Christian Education Report for the Deacons on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Serve as the “Music Librarian” for the church – purchase, file, and catalogue all church music.
  • Recommend the tuning, maintenance, replacement, and, or purchase of supplies or new musical instruments to the Music / Worship and Facilities Committee.
  • Maintain subscription to CCLI, Christian Copyright Licensing International, and authorizations necessary for New Hampton Community Church to legally use published materials.
  • Prepare a music and worship budget each year for presentation to the Finance Committee, in cooperation with the Lead Pastor, Music / Worship Committee.
  • Prepare a Christian Education budget each year for presentation to the Finance Committee, in cooperation with the Lead Pastor and other Church Staff.

Accountability
The Director of Music shall…

  • Work under the supervision of the Lead Pastor, in cooperation with the Music / Worship Committee and Children and Family Ministry Committee, with ultimate accountability to the Lead Pastor.
  • Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor for planning and prayer.
  • Meet with the Lead Pastor for a performance review after three months, then six months, and one-year. After which, performance reviews will be done annually by the Lead Pastor.
  • Be expected to be at New Hampton Community Church on Sunday mornings. Flexibility will be given, in communication with the Lead Pastor, regarding time off and being away on Sunday.

Terms of Employment

Hours: This is an hourly position requiring approximately 30-40 hours a week, the majority of which are to be worked at New Hampton Community Church, working with the Pastors, IT Director, Music Team, and others. All requests for personal time must be approved by the Lead Pastor
Salary: Starting Salary Range: $30-$40K Annually. Salary will be reviewed annually (fall-time) by the Lead Pastor and Finance Committee, With increase placed in effect January 1 of each year if applicable.
Benefits: The Associate Pastor will receive the ability to have a flexible schedule.
Termination of employment is to be made by New Hampton Community Church or the staff member.
Supervision: The Associate Pastor is directly accountable to the Lead Pastor for the satisfactory fulfillment of all functions and responsibilities in consultant with the Music / Worship Committee.
