Shelter Rock Church (est. 1943) is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, multi-campus church on the North Shore of Long Island.

Our mission is to lead people into a transforming relationship with Jesus. Our vision is to reach NYC and Long Island with the gospel and join God in the renewal of all things.

We are currently seeking a FT Campus Youth Pastor in our Long Island Campus, who can provide pastoral leadership and guidance to middle school and high school students and families, and serve as a key member of our pastoral team.

Candidates must have a strong Biblical and theological foundation and a growing personal relationship with Jesus; great interpersonal, relational and communication skills; a sincere love for students and a calling to reach the next generation and help them grow in Christ; must have high EQ and cross-cultural competency.

Due to cultural dynamics, our ideal candidate will live or have lived in the NYC-Metro area.

The Pastor who serves in Student Ministries is a vital member of the Pastoral ministry team, and responsible for the following:

  • carry the responsibility of fostering deep discipleship among students between 6th – 12th grade.
  • create environments of trust and safety for students, where relationships are formed, authentic community builds, difficult issues and questions are being raised, honored, and discussed, Biblical teaching is provided, and disciples are being made.
  • understand and be able to engage students where they are — able to respond to the complex challenges, questions, issues and concerns of their world.
  • lead students in community through activities and programs that open their hearts to deeper teaching and spiritual formation practices that un-form us out of the ways of this world and into the utterly unique and beautiful way of Jesus.
  • know, love, and care for your students (and their families) — inserting yourself into their lives.
  • develop and serve together with teams of parents, young adults, and other volunteers, providing a stable, consistent, trustworthy, Christian presence and voice in their lives.
