We are a Bible-based, Gospel-focused, Discipleship passionate Presbyterian church located in the vibrant suburbs of Washington DC.
We aren’t just looking for someone to run a Student or Young Adult Program. We are looking for another member of our team and a leader in our church family. We are looking for someone whose gifts, faith, and friendship influence our lives and all of the ministries at CPC. You’ll be joining a team of enjoyable and talented followers of Jesus. You don’t need to be Presbyterian to come on board, but we do have a few distinctions that we think you may find refreshing. God is moving at CPC! We are in a period of growth and change as new generations of families are coming.
About the Director of Youth and Young Adult:
The Director of Student and Young Adult Ministries will join with CPC’s leadership team in creating a beautiful Gospel formed community in the Northern Virginia region by envisioning, launching, and growing CPC’s Student, College, and Young Adult Ministries. As an invaluable member of CPC’s staff team, the director will minister alongside true partners in ministry. As such, the director will have a significant voice in the overall life of our congregation. As a strong and mature Christian leader, he or she should reflect the attitudes, character, and lifestyle of a true Christ follower.
The Director of Youth and Young Adult’s Responsibilities Include:
Discipleship
- Provide oversight, direction, and coordination of the Student Ministry program for middle school and high school students that emphasizes Biblical literacy, prayer, and discipleship.
- Coordinate and organize events throughout the year that focus on spiritual formation, fellowship, and outreach like retreats, conferences, and mission trips.
- Recruit, train, and nurture students to become leaders in the church community.
- Seek opportunities in the community to reach students for the Gospel.
- Work with the Director of Children’s Ministry to develop a plan for discipleship that presents opportunities for the family and the church to come alongside each child as they grow in their faith.
- Engage college age students through summer activities and ongoing outreach during the school year.
- Assist in developing and nurturing the Young Adult Ministry.
Teaching
- Ensure dynamic and relevant Bible teaching is a hallmark of Student ministry at CPC.
- Equip parents to be the primary source of discipleship in the life of their children through resources, seminars, and other opportunities for them to parent through the lens of the gospel
- Preach on occasion, as determined by the Senior Pastor Leadership Development.
- Recruit, equip, and lead Student and Young Adult ministry teams.
- Seek and provide regular opportunities for ministry team members to develop/learn/grow as ministry leaders.
Administration
- Develop and manage an annual Student and Young Adult ministry budget.
- Plan and submit an annual calendar of events for the Student Ministry.
- Communicate effectively with the students, parents, staff, and congregation. Familiarity with social media, Canva, and Constant Contact preferred.
- Coordinate administration for all student ministry events including registration, payments, and planning.
- Oversee selection and management of Student Ministry summer intern/s.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Previous work in Student Ministry, Theological, or Biblical Studies is preferred.
- Holds beliefs in alignment with Essential Tenets, Polity, and Confessional Standards of ECO (CPC’s Presbyterian denomination- www.eco-pres.org).
Personal Characteristics & Qualifications
- Displays a love for God and a passion for seeing students grow.
- Possesses Strong communication skills (large group, small group, and interpersonal).
- Ability to connect with an emerging generation of students and young adults while maintaining credibility with previous generations.
- A people-oriented leader.
- High EQ.
- Collaborative team player.
- Values the success of a team over their individual success.
