Community Church is a congregation in Lake Wylie, SC, a suburb of Charlotte. Our mission is to reach every generation with the love and hope of Jesus Christ. To that end, we are seeking to hire a Connections Pastor who will help shepherd our church by cultivating community, volunteerism, and discipleship. Our congregation is growing and we’ve recently completed a campus-wide renovation, so it’s an exciting time to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Provide support, guidance, and cohesion for all adult ministries to connect people to the life of the church and to encourage their spiritual growth (volunteer teams, Bible studies, groups, men’s/women’s ministry, other connectional events).
- Guide newcomers toward a deeper involvement in the life of our church through first-time guest follow ups and leading our Discover/Membership classes.
- Oversee and replenish volunteer teams, including encouraging congregants to serve on committees.
- Support our small groups’ ministry by developing leaders and launching new groups.
- Oversee the Deacons as they serve communion once a month and offer prayer support to those in our congregation who are struggling.
- Encourage participation in local mission projects.
- Teach occasionally in the main service.
- Lead elements of our worship service on a regular basis: hosting/announcements, communion, new member induction, staffing the welcome desk.
- Collaborate with our communications director to publicize church activities.
- Share pastoral responsibilities for weddings, funerals, baptisms etc.
- Supervise a few part-time positions.

- Evidence of a growing relationship with Jesus.
- Alignment of spiritual gifts with this position.
- Agreement with our church’s mission and beliefs.
- Active participation in the life of our church.

Professional Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of full-time ministry experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Seminary education preferred, but not required.
- A gospel-shaped grasp of Scripture.
- Proven ability to design something and see it through to effective implementation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Gifted administratively, with a capacity for follow through.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to multitask.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 (depending upon experience/qualifications).
- Paid time off (PTO):
- 3 weeks (15 days), with the ability to earn 2 more days off after five years.
- Additional staff-wide PTO around Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year’s, and on some Federal holidays.
- A one-month paid sabbatical every five years.
