Meet Peachtree Presbyterian:

Peachtree Presbyterian Church (“Peachtree Church”) is one of the largest Presbyterian (USA) churches in the United States. Since its foundation over 110 years ago, it has become a thriving multifaceted church, dedicated to serving the community and reaching the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although Peachtree Church draws its attendance not only from its immediate neighborhood but also throughout Metro Atlanta, it also reaches across the country and the world through its increased online presence developed during the pandemic.

Peachtree’s history began with a missional vision for the community. On the way home from the funeral of their three-month-old son, Mr. and Mrs. Honour saw the children of their neighborhood and recognized they did not have a place to learn about Jesus. They began a Sunday school for the children in the neighborhood, in memory of their son. That mission Sunday school for youth, begun in 1910, subsequently grew into Peachtree Presbyterian Church, which was established in 1919. The church’s campus now covers 26 total acres on both sides of Roswell Road in the Buckhead area of Atlanta.

Throughout its history, Peachtree has benefited from strong pastoral leadership, leading the church to embrace a missional vision. This ministry and leadership are marked by biblical, relevant preaching and an outward focus on the church.

Peachtree Church works with mission partners in Atlanta to bring restoration to our community. These efforts include conducting Habitat for Humanity builds, preparing Latino students and families for success through academic and enrichment programs as well as helping fight human trafficking. In addition, the church has global mission partners in a dozen countries focusing on vulnerable children and investing in the next generation of leaders for the church.

Peachtree is an inter-generational community experiencing growth through its ministry to young families. Baptizing 150+ babies a year, home to the South’s largest preschool, and valuing children and student ministries, Peachtree’s median age is 37. Ninety full-time staff and sixty part-time staff (not including preschool and gym staff) make up the team, which, alongside leaders in the congregation, guide Peachtree’s ministry.

With a membership of 7,000+, Peachtree Church is a significant church in the Atlanta-Buckhead area and enjoys a national reputation within the PCUSA denomination and beyond.

About the Director of Contemporary Worship:

Peachtree Presbyterian is searching for a Director of Contemporary Worship to lead the church in authentic, gospel-centered worship. The ideal candidate will lead with humility and a heart for investing in others.

The Director of Contemporary Worship’s Responsibilities Include:

• Creatively develop, execute, and direct service content and music for the Contemporary Worship services at Peachtree Church that appropriately support the themes of worship.
• Oversee implementation of environmental aesthetics in worship (lighting, visuals, etc.).
• Attend relevant, weekly worship-related meetings for upcoming Sunday or seasonal services within the life of the church.
• Recruit, schedule, and coordinate musicians (professional and laity) on a weekly basis.
• Prepare for services by practicing and leading rehearsals for musicians and tech.
• Coordinate service content requirements with the technical team weekly.
• (When needed) Work alongside the Traditional Music Director to write and orchestrate music as necessary for concerts or combined worship services.
• Manage and approve yearly expenses related to the contemporary worship budget.
• Build laity teams as necessary to bolster the creativity and engagement of worship.
• Work with the Worship and Music Coordinator weekly to ensure the vision of each service is realized.
• Lead worship for student ministry summer camps as needed.

Education & Experience

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience leading worship in a contemporary worship environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High proficiency in leading vocally and instrumentally (acoustic guitar, keyboards, etc).
• Track record of effective leadership, judgment, and character.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both interpersonally and in a worship leadership role.
• Knowledge and understanding of current technology that supports modern worship.

What it’s Like to Live in Atlanta, GA:

Peachtree Church is located in Buckhead, which is in the northern part of Metro Atlanta (approximately 5 miles “Inside the Perimeter”) The church is located both near the highly developed commercial and financial center of Buckhead and near a neighborhood of large single-family homes surrounded by dense forests and rolling hills. Metro Atlanta is the eighth-largest metropolitan area in the US. It is the leading economic, cultural and educational hub in the South. The area is dominated by low-density residential subdivisions, but it also has many recently built multi-family housing complexes. Atlanta is home to many major colleges and universities, including Georgia Tech, Emory University, Atlanta University Center, and Georgia State University.
