JOB SUMMARY
The Bridge Ministries, a multi-campus church in Portage, Michigan, is seeking to hire a full time director for their High School Student Ministries. The Director of High School Ministries should lead students to experience the grace and mercy of Jesus while equipping them to live as ministers of the Gospel. They will provide clear, inspiring, and visionary leadership for their ministry; guiding students, their families, and volunteer leaders at the Portage and Vicksburg campuses in both their
discipleship and faith journey.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
This individual must be a devoted follower of Christ— redeemed, prayerful, and must be responsive to the leading of The Holy Spirit. They should have a deep, unwavering belief in the Bible, firmly rooted in its truth, and equipped to share it with others. Additionally, they must connect well with young people, demonstrating the ability to listen, encourage, challenge, correct, love, and nurture with wisdom and grace. They should maintain a strong personal prayer life, effectively teach from the
Bible, and guide students in understanding their role in God’s Kingdom. And, they must demonstrate a passion for discipleship specifically in the lives of high school-aged students and should be equipped to counsel and support students facing difficult and desperate times. This person must have a proactive leadership approach suited for a large church with a large student ministry. This individual needs to be a catalyst for delegating and utilizing the gifts and talents of others. They
must be able to receive feedback and be willing to apply the feedback given. They should be a team player and willing to work together for the good of the church family. This person must have a passion for the Mission Statement and the 7 Discipleship Essentials that we subscribe to at The Bridge. They should have a servant’s heart, willing to serve the needs of the church community.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Four-Year Degree (preferred)
- Seminary Education & Ordination (preferred)
- Full-Time Student Ministry Experience (required)
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Full Time Salaried Position w/ Benefits (40-50hrs/wk)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1) This person will provide specific, inspiring, and clear visionary leadership for The Bridge High School Student Ministries. This includes students, their families, and the team of student leaders entrusted to them at both the Portage + Vicksburg Campuses. The High School Student Ministries Director will do this by:
a. Keeping the focus of this ministry on The Bridge’s mission of Be One | Make One as it applies toHigh School Students and their families. Specifically, ensuring this is a ministry where all students have an adult Life Group discipler who cares & disciples their group of students.
b. Establishing and maintaining passionate and capable adult Life Group Leaders that are committed, trained, and effective leaders in this ministry. These leaders can be a combination of paid staff, volunteers, other students, and/or parents.
c. Ensuring that the curriculum, activities, and the discipleship process is functioning in alignment with the ministry goals. When making leadership decisions, consideration should be made in the best interest of the students, parents, this ministry, and The Bridge church as a whole.
d. Leveraging and equipping the High School Student Ministries to boost the overall impact of The Bridge Ministries. Student Ministries is part of The Bridge church-body and should not be treated as a separate entity.
2) Utilize and organize special ministry components/events to increase discipleship and spiritual growth. These components are but not limited to: Winter Camp, Bible Studies, Student Leadership Team, Discipleship Training Opportunities, Mission Trips, Life Groups, and Student Worship Team.
3) Provide high-level direction and spiritual leadership to the fulfillment of faith-milestones and
specific age qualified development. (ie: confession of faith, baptism, etc.)
4) Provide oversight to the planning and budgeting process for your specific area of ministry working directly with your Operator of Student Ministries. Make kingdom-minded financial decisions and spend within the allotted High School Student Ministries budget.
5) Create and maintain a vision of “Growing Young” leadership development and multiplication. Developing student leaders who will have Keychain Leadership in The Bridge and also be drivers of multiplication efforts in Student Ministries.
6) Remain dedicated to spiritual, personal, and professional growth through provided opportunities like: Global Leadership Summit, Orange Conference, and Staff Retreats.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate and engage as a Full Time Staff Member of The Bridge. This includes but is not limited to: Teaching on the Teaching Team, being engaged and in attendance at Worship Services, Servant leadership/partnership with other areas of ministry inside The Bridge (ex: Family Ministry Team, All- Church Community Impact efforts, etc.), and, all other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND SUPPORT
The Director of High School Ministries will be directly accountable to and receive support from the Director of Family Ministries. Overall accountability is to The Bridge Operator and Overseer Team (The B.O.O) and the Lead Pastor of The Bridge Ministries. They should also be faithful in living out the 7 GENERAL EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL BRIDGE STAFF:
1) Conduct oneself in a way that honors Jesus whether at home, on campus, in the community, at church events, or participating with an online community.
2) Take responsibility for personal spiritual growth with spiritual disciplines of the Word, including: worship/gathering, prayer/fasting, service, and tithing.
3) Work toward the Kingdom goal of being and making disciples (be one, make one), and focus on the overall goal of walking with people through intentional discipleship.
4) Always seek ways to multiply oneself and lead others into ministry with proper oversight using the “Jesus method.”
5) Participate in or lead a Life Group. This is an organic and purpose-filled part of who we are.
6) Be present and engaged. Attending weekly Monday staff meetings and leadership trainings.
7) Look to approach all things with a positive and encouraging attitude, love your co-workers with forgiveness, courage and gentleness, and contribute to a fun and creative environment for the good of all.
