Job Summary
The Discipleship Senior Coordinator will provide logistical and administrative support to the discipleship department at Redeemer Lincoln Square (LSQ). The Discipleship Senior Coordinator will be responsible for tasks and projects related to office management, event planning, data management, recruitment and pastoral care. This position is highly tactical and administrative in nature, but also people-intensive. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, proactive problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential. The Discipleship Senior Coordinator will play an important role in helping LSQ to achieve its overall vision, mission and strategy.

Job Description
Discipleship
Church-Wide Discipleship, Men’s Ministry, 40+ Ministry, Leadership Pipeline Development

  • Assist the Director of Discipleship with administrative tasks, including, but not limited to, calendar management, scheduling, communications to Discipleship Team and note-taking at Discipleship Team and other meetings. Assist the Director of Discipleship with internal communications in connection with the implementation of the LSQ Strategic Plan, which would include follow up and scheduling of meetings for staff and leaders responsible for the LSQ Strategic Plan initiatives.
  • Manage and implement all event administration and logistics for discipleship meetings, trainings, seminars and classes led by Director of Discipleship, including, but not limited to those related to Men’s Ministry, 40+ ministry, leadership pipeline development and church-wide discipleship, including the School of Restorative Presence. Tasks include, but not limited to, booking room/venue reservations, scheduling, communications, IT setup, catering, preparation of agenda/handouts, setting up of meeting rooms, meeting the needs of speakers, guests and attendees, for each class/meeting/event/training/seminar ensuring high quality standards and timeliness.
  • Assist in recruitment and administrative training of teachers for the School of Restorative Presence.
  • Facilitate recruitment for the leadership pipeline.
Community Groups
  • Manage and implement all event administration and logistics for discipleship meetings, trainings, seminars and classes led by the Director of Community Life, including, but not limited to those related to Community Groups (CGs) and Women’s Ministry. Tasks include, but not limited to, booking room/venue reservations, scheduling, communications, IT setup, catering, preparation of agenda/handouts, setting up of meeting rooms, meeting the needs of speakers, guests and attendees, for each class/meeting/event/training/seminar ensuring high quality standards and timeliness.
  • Manage all administration and logistics for the LSQ CG system including:
    ○ TouchPoint management to ensure all CG records are accurate and hosts/leader information is correct.
    ○ Assist and provide logistical and administrative support for new CG leader and advanced CG leader training sessions to ensure 100% of leaders are trained to care for CG members and understand the vision of these groups.
  • CG Leader Recruitment
    ○ Assist the Director of Community Life in further implementing and developing the CG Leader Recruitment system within the existing rhythms of leadership meetings at LSQ by regularly collecting CG leader recommendations; initiating communication with potential candidates, providing initial vetting of candidates to make recommendations for Director of Community Life to conduct final vetting.
    ○ Aid Director of Community Life in planning and executing 1-2 recruitment events per year.
    ○ Plan and execute a communications plan for CG leader and host recruitment in collaboration with the Director of Community Life and the Director of Communications.
    ○ Provide onboarding training for new CG leaders.
    ○ Assist the Director of Community Life in offering pastoral care to CG leaders, as needed.
Women’s Ministry
  • Aid the Director of Community Life in building the women’s ministry including developing specific women’s discipleship and fellowship opportunities, including planning and organizing an annual women’s retreat or conference.
  • Assist the Director of Community Life with supervision of women’s ministry volunteers, offering pastoral care, as needed.
  • Provide planning and logistical support for seminars, cohorts and events for Woman2Woman and Community Group Leader trainings/gatherings.
  • Work with the Communications Team to promote quarterly gatherings and follow up communication.
  • Participate in teaching rotation for Bible studies.

Session

Meetings, Programs and Events
  • Oversee and implement all Session meeting and event logistics, including, but not limited to, booking room/venue reservations, scheduling, communications, IT setup, catering, preparation of agenda/handouts, setting up of meeting rooms, meeting the needs of speakers, guests and attendees, for each meeting/event ensuring high quality standards and timeliness.
Recruitment of Elders
  • Manage all administrative aspects of the recruitment process for new elders, including nominations, application processing, setting up of interviews, logistics of both theological and practical skills training, and installation.
Qualifications
  • Must embrace LSQ’s vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for New York City.
  • Must be aligned with the core theological principles, including the core ministry values of LSQ and the Presbyterian Church of America, including the Westminster Confession.
  • Must have a four-year undergraduate degree.
  • Must have ministry experience; minimum of 2 years’ experience (volunteer or paid); urban ministry experience is a plus. Proven ability to teach Bible studies preferred.
  • Experience in managing data for organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Excellent ability to organize and advance multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively plan and effectively execute programs and events, along with strong time management.
  • Aptitude for communicating effectively and winsomely.
  • Ability to manage full administrative details of an organization; administrative experience required; experience with database management (or CRM) tools a plus.
  • Ability to think proactively and anticipate and meet administrative needs.
  • Comfort and competence navigating a complex organization and a dynamic ministry environment.
  • Commitment to take initiative, own and follow through on administrative details and projects.
  • Ability to build relationships and trust across a broad set of staff and volunteers.
  • People-oriented gatherer is required.
  • Team player with ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic organizational environment.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain high standards of honesty and integrity.

  • Experience managing volunteers under supervision.
  • Established ability to speak before large and small groups with poise and enthusiasm.
  • Experience in writing and editing is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend events, as needed, is required.
Skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Must be in possession of strong administrative, interpersonal, organizational, technological, and problem solving skills.
